A friend of mine has organised a track day at Wakefield and we need more people to make the day a success.

Below is all the details:

Booked and organised.

When: Saturday February 13th, 2010.

Where: Wakefield Park

Cost: $145 per person

What is it: For those who havent been before they split you up into "classes" and after 15min on the track they call you in and the next class goes out, and this continues all day. You will get plenty of racing in dont worry.

What you need: Long pants and a long sleeved shirt, enclosed footwear and an australian standards approved helmet.

Note: Also please ensure that your car is not leaking oil/ leaking anything at all, as if it gets on the track it will cause massive problems for everyone participating on the day.

AASA licences are the minimum requirement and can be purchased on the day for $50, this lasts for a year!

If you are a PGA member, please put your PGA username on the "description of transfer" so i know where i recieved the money from. When you have deposited the money, please also send me an email - [email protected] and i will reply to your email letting you know i have recieved the funds ie. like a reciept.

Payments are required by Wednesday 13th January (6 days time) just to ensure that all is payed up and that i can send the money through to wakefield.

If anybody has a problem with this please contact me and let me know.

Doesn't appear to be any driver training however they are badly in need of people to come along as only about 15 of 45 spots are taken.

If anybody wants a cheap trackday (9 x 15min sessions) this would be it!

No there are driver no trainers attending.

Great that you've paid the money.

Hope to see more guys out there.

Thanks guys,

Dave.

Very very tempted. I promised myself no trackdays for the 1st half of the year but this is very tempting.

Will decide in the next week or so.

Looks like about 20 of 45 spots taken now. If they let me run my little toy i'll be there!

At the moment no money needs to be laid out for this. Just let me know what you're interested in and I'll let my mate know.

Thanks guys,

Dave.

Hey guys I have some bad news... This is from Adam on PGA.

Hey guys, i called wakey to confirm the price, and theres bad news.

When she first quoted me, she never put the timing tower and the ambulance into the quote, and she'd based it on last years track prices =/

Would everyone who has paid be willing to pay an extra $20, and the price will be moved up to $165 accordingly?

Sorry guys, but even i was like wtf. Shes like oh how many do you have, over 25? Oh well you need the ambulance... grrrr

Will whoever paid be ok with paying the $20 extra and whoever else wants to go be ok with paying the extra? If there are any problems PM and I'll speak to Adam.

Thanks,

Dave.

Still interested, but can't confirm for a while.

Anyone considering it, $165 is still a very good price for Wakie on a Saturday, especially since OP is closing these days will be harder to come by.

My 2c.

    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
    • BTW I measured the jack I have, it is 70mm at the saddle but you only have about 700 until it returns to 150mm high at the cylinder so it is good but no magic bullet.
