INASNT I live in Berwick and have IINET ADSL 512kbit, 20gig per month for $79.95 per month (not bad at all, good pings as well)

My mate lives in Narre Warren Sth and has Internode 1500mbit unlimited and swears by it, he used to work for Connect in melbourne and knows his sh%t, Senior Tech. He reckons the network is heaps better as well.

A few estates around this area have Optarse cable but not many

optarse is ghey... internode's alright but dart is the bomb.

That house looks exactly like one that my mate lives in (down tot he bar n billiards table) in Dingley Village. I'm guessing it was a predesigned style or sumfin?

anything except an NB1300 or NB1200, stick to D-Link for most things like filters etc, or if you can get your hands on an ASUS hub/modem.

At 512 you won't notice any difference in the equipment you use, only if you start goin to higher speeds. (I've got 512 and tried about 4 different modems with and without routers)

Stick with D-Link, good price for a decent enough product. Something like a DSL-504 $254.17 (if you've got multiple computers) or a DSL-200 $132.09 for a single connection. Check www.instantit.com.au.

Any type of filter is fine, as long as it's for ADSL. InstantIT is quoting $14.00 for a filter, I'm sure I got them cheaper than that...

I'll have to put in a plug for Internode as well... They've got great service, excellent network speed/pings albeit for a couple of dollars extra than the cheapest of providers (you do get what you pay for in the broadband arena). There must be an echo in here (Whirlpool is your friend!) - they just completed their survey too which gives a pretty good breakdown of the current broadband scene.

not necessarily some larger ISP have boxes at exchanges in metro areas and use this. There's even an ISP in rural adelaide offering ADSL where testra don't by setting up secondhand US boxes (since the US has a shiteload of ADSL and is years ahead of us)

... most of the problems with telstra are their ****ed up authentication and mail servers. While most resell the Telstra bottom layer, there are quite a few out there that have their own servers. THOSE are the ISP you wanna go for. I had ADSL on telstra for like a year and it was constantly ****ed up, couldn't log in, servers were down, ****ing rubbish. THEN after that I switched to Netspace.. not a problem, 10 times better.. and when i switched to my router setup permanently connected it had like an up-time of 3 months! 3 months ON permannetly conneted. Telstra could never match that with their servers.

It depends whether the ISP is a layer2 provider or whatever, most still use the bandwidth of Telstra, but the rest of the system is their own..

anyhow...www.whirlpool.net.au - u can learn everything u ever want to know there..

With the "self install" yeah.. it's a doddle to install. .plug modem into filter and then phone line, run the install cd, enter account details and done

If you want to get fancy and have laptops or whatever, you might be best off buying a wireless router or wirelesss router/dsl modem of your own - that way you can just wireless throughout the house to get on the net.

yeah, but imagine being able to beam stuff straight from your PC to your xbox and through your stereo to stream mp3, wma tracks, downloaded movies and whatever else on demand 3 rooms away :) Putting a CD phsyically into a CD player is so passe' man :)

You don't want messy cables running around :)

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
