Hi,I'm after some advise ,after installing a Apexi pod ,I discovered that it was some oil residue on the rubber joint between the turbo and the intercooler (stock)...Is that normal or something is wrong???

Any help is welcome...

No,There isn't much just concerned about :

A.- I supossed that should not be any oil inside that pipe.

B.- Maybe the joint is cracked (when last week I tooked the plastic cover from the engine the hose between the breathers was cracked)

BTW ,Does anybody remember the diameter of the rubber joints (the one i'm talking about and the other on top of this one that goes from the intercooler to the plenum????? (thinking to replace them with silicone ones).

Dont think you deserve a reply without having a heat shield and cold air feed on that pod mate :) especially in summer!

I know it's my next step when I return to work on monday ,will try to get a piece of aluminium and make a decent one...

Airbox FTW

And yes,I know it too but i got to give it a go...with this shit is like having a jet at the front...

After all this lovely critics..does anybody have a nice answer about my questions?

oil in the intercooler pipes is normal, its called "blow by". if you search SAU you will see alot of thread about it. it basically comes from the oil breathers and is blown back through the pipework by the turbo. this is why you see people installing oil catch cans, to baffle the oil vapour out of the air before it is sucked up by the turbo, but its not necessary. i wouldn't worry about it.

if you are still interested in changing the old black joiners for new silicone ones, you'll find they are an odd size. they aren't 2.5 inch, and they aren't 2.25 inch. they are in between, more like 2 and 3/8 inch, you can get silicone in this size but its rare. most places stock 2.25 and 2.5 inch, so when you get them, you either need to stretch a 2.25 inch joiner over the pipe, or compress a 2.5 inch one down abit to get a seal. also be careful of the wide style T-Bolt clamps you can buy, some of the 2.5 inch ones dont compress enough onto the stock black cooler pipes, and also some of the 2.25 inch ones are too small to fit over the 2 and 3/8 inch pipe and silicone. i know that because i'm in the process of changing all of mine.

some of the sizes:

im sure the turbo output is the same as the cooler pipes. 2.25 inch

the alloy crossover pipe (just before the inlet plenum) is 2.5 inch where the black cooler pipe meets it. so you will need to either squash a 2.5 inch straight joiner onto the black cooler pipe, or buy a 2.25 inch to 2.5 inch reducing straight joiner and stretch it over.

and if your keen to do another one the alloy crossover pipe to throttle body is 3 inch.

    • I'm back from the dyno - again! I went looking for someone who knew LS's and had a roller dyno, to see how it shaped up compared to everything else and confirm the powerband really is peaking where Mr Mamo says it should. TLDR: The dyno result I got this time definitely had the shape of how it feels on the road and finally 'makes sense'. Also we had a bit more time to play with timing on the dyno, it turns out the common practice in LS is to lower the timing around peak torque and restore it to max after. So given a car was on the dyno and mostly dialled in already, it was time for tweaking. Luis at APS is definitely knowledgable when it came to this and had overlays ready to go and was happy to share. If you map out your cylinder airmass you start seeing graphs that look a LOT like the engine's torque curve. The good thing also is if you map out your timing curve when you're avoiding knock... this curve very much looks like the inverse of the airmass curve. The result? Well it's another 10.7kw/14hp kw from where I drove it in at. Pretty much everywhere, too. As to how much this car actually makes in Hub Dyno numbers, American Dyno numbers, or Mainline dyno numbers, I say I don't know and it's gone up ~25kw since I started tinkering lol. It IS interesting how the shorter ratio gears I have aren't scaled right on this dyno - 6840RPM is 199KMH, not 175KMH. I have also seen other printouts here with cars with less mods at much higher "kmh" for their RPM due Commodores having 3.45's or longer (!) rear diff ratios maxing out 4th gear which is the 1:1 gear on the T56. Does this matter? No, not really. The real answer is go to the strip and see what it traps, but: I guess I should have gone last Sunday...
    • 310mm rotors will be avilable from Australia, Japan, and probably a few other places. Nothing for the front can be put on the back.
    • The filter only filters down to a specific size. Add to that, the filter is AFTER the pump. So it means everything starts breaking your pump even if its being filtered out.
    • Just like in being 14mm too small (296mm) makes it not fit, being 14mm too big (324mm) it also won't fit. You want to find the correct rotor.
    • @GTSBoy Ok so that was the shops problem...they showed R33 rotors on R34 page and i did not know 296 do not fit(and are for R33) Yes i bought "kit" with rotors and pads. Pads are ok(i have GTT calipers front and rear). They have some 324mm but no 310mm. So i dont know if they would fit. I have 17inch LMGT4s So another question. Can i fit those in the rear or they are just "too" big for that?
