The Mt Stuart Sprint is on again in 2010. It is booked in for the 12th-13th June (Queens Birthday long weekend).

See www.tcac.net.au for full supplementary regulations and an intention to enter/expression of interest form.

It'd be great to see some of you guys up here again (hint hint Russ and Ben) to battle it out with Coops and I.

If Russ goes, I'll go. You need to convince the big panzy

I reckon he should take the fast R32, so I can fly my man Timmy up and smash him with our slow 32

You should try convincing him Ben cause you know you wanna come back up here. You and Pete Trez can be the GTS-t crew.

Leg 1 at the V8 supercar track should be fun. I rode around it on my pushy today. It's wide and will be really fast.

I have at least four other blokes down here putting serious thought into it too :P

That's great news mate. It'd be good to see some more southern tallent up here again.

I'll have my new place sorted by then with plenty of space if any of your guys need a place to stay. My big shed and hoist should be a goer to for any dramas aswell.

It's my 30th bday that weekend to so we'll be keen for shanigans on sunday night.

Good to hear you're still keen Ben.

The early bird discount for the fees end this friday so get your entries in for a couple of hundred off. I filled mine out today. Still hoping to see some more solid entries roll in. We are running a prolog on the V8 supercar track which will be fun.

Also Picked up a sponser for the event from a local earth moving company today so thankyou to Urban Earthworks.

Good shit mate. :P

I posted my cheque yesterday.

Is it just prologue on the SC track or is there some competition runs over it on the saturday?

I'm a little confused with the program.

Yep that is correct. We get to do about 8 competition runs on sat afternoon of the 1.1km section of the track (leg 1).

So sat morning we do pace noting of v8 track followed by stuart then head back to the track for prolouge, then our timed runs from 1pm.

Sun is all at stuart for leg 2.

My entry went in this morning

lol....you will be pleased to know that I run different settings from what you recomended....they were a great starting point though. thanks again :D

Our track is very sort and tight compared to what you would be running your car on.

I talked to Russ last week and told him I'd tow his car up on my way back from superlap if it was going to be easier to just fly in from Darwin. I just want to get as many people to make the effort as we can to ensure the future of this event. This event was the reason I built my car.

Here are some picks from last years event to get you all keen. Giant Russ has just put an entry in so lets see if we can get some more SAU tarmac bandits up here for a good weekends rallying. We have 15 entries as of last night but we need about 18 to break even with this event. If we cant get the numbers this time it'll put this event in danger of not running in the future so if you've ever wanted to come up to Townsville please put in an entry.

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
