Yeah I understand that but to me it don't make sense if you take the car to the track twice a year.

Would it not be more practical to get some Coilovers and some decent sway bars then spending money on a cage?

That would be much more effective if your looking for stiffness.

Cage = Cop bait

You are more likely to be asked to step out your car if they see a cage, so they can "have a look".

Just my point of view its just something to think about.

there is nothing illegal about a half-cage if the car is a rego 2 seater. if you have tint and the cage isn't painted a bright colour most of the time you can't see it unless you are looking for it.

but yes coilovers and the rest of your suspension setup should be done 1st before a cage if its primary uses is to increase stiffness.

a roll cage does not only protect you if you roll your car but it increases the stiffness of the car. It makes a huge different it is noticeable!

If done correctly you should have zero issue with the police, even if you don't re-rego your car as a 2-seaters i doubt you will have an issue. A friend has been driving around his R33 with a half cage (strip rear, carpet in its place) and never had an issue. another friend running a full-cage again has had no issue and he has been stop by police afew times

Ive failed pits a couple years ago with a full cage so your mate must be really lucky

Never heard of a full cage legal

Who in perth can build halfcages?

he is just honest with the cops, tells them its his track car. the times he has been pulled over he was coming back from the track, cops let him off said just drive home

Haha Lucky Bastard!

Last time my mate was honest with a cop he said "Thanks for being so honest now I can yellow you in half the time"

Fail! Haha...

ive considered putting in a half cage a few times. as mentioned its perfectly legal if you re-rego as a two seater.

Theres been a few rolls at the drifts and more than a few near misses.

Those dudes being all like "omg drive on street who needs" you dont have a place to be responding to the question.

Dont alot of people get them from Bond over east in a kit? then get someone to assemble? or is it cheaper/easier to get someone in perth to do it.

I'd be interested in getting a non cams approved cage at some point.

lots of places :D

But before you ask yourself who can build cage? you need to ask do you want a cams approve cage or not.

there is a different in price

Sorry, I did mean cams approved cages..

Any monkey can build a cage, I meant who can build quality cams approved cages?:)

Also interested in a non-cams approved cage in the short term.

Cheers R32Driver :)

If your only doing track work a couple time a year I would go with a bolt in, pretty cheap and they come up from time to time in the FS forum. Having said that I'm not sold on bolt ins as a way of increasing rigidity.

Police interest. The problem lies in a full cage that

A) Restricts accessthrough the doors and

B) Obscures vision and enters the ADR mandated box that must be free from obstruction incase you bash your scone.

In the end I leave my seats in and bolt in a straight back for the day. I can count on the fingers of one hand the time I've had people in the back seat, they just add weight and weight and annoying comments ablout the music and my driving abilities are the enemy...that and I have no friends anyway.

If you wan to drop weight, run minimum fuel, get rid of spare tyre and the passenger seat when you track it. The passenger seat in a 32R is 14Kg +spare which is 10? Thats a decent weight saving

My next few days will be spent making sure timing is good, it was running fine before doing the ECU and DBW swap, but want to verify.  I'll also probably swap in the new injectors I bought as well as a walbro 255 pump.
    • It would be different if the sealant hadn't started to peel up with gaps in the glue about ~6cm and bigger in some areas. I would much prefer not having to do the work take them off the car . However, the filler the owner put in the roof rack mount cavities has shrunk and begun to crack on the rail delete panels. I cant trust that to hold off moisture ingress especially where I live. Not only that but I have faded paint on as well as on either side of these panels, so they would need to come off to give the roofline a proper respray. My goal is to get in there and put a healthy amount of epoxy instead of panel filler/bog and potentially skin with carbon fiber. I have 2 spare rolls from an old motorcycle fairing project from a few years back and I think it'd be a nice touch on a black stag.  I've seen some threads where people replace their roof rack delete with a welded in sheet metal part. But has anyone re-worked the roof rails themselves? It seems like there is a lot of volume there to add in some threads and maybe a keyway for a quick(er) release roof rack system. Not afraid to mill something out if I have to. It would be cool to have a cross bar only setup. That way I can keep the sleek roofline that would accept a couple bolts to gain back that extra utility  3D print some snazzy covers to hide the threaded section to be thorough and keep things covered when not using the rack.
    • Probably not. A workshop grade scantool is my go to for proper Consult interrogation. Any workshop grade tool should do it. Just go to a workshop.
    • In my head it does make sense to be a fuel problem since that is what I touched when cleaning the system. When I was testing with the fuel pressure gauge, the pressure was constantly 2.5 bar with the FPR vacuum removed. When stalling, the pressure was going up to 3.0 bar (which is how it should be on ignition).
    • ECUtalk pages don't mention they support the ABS computer (consult port has more than one CAN), so you might just need a different scan tool. But, I would expect ABS is a different light to the brake warning/handbrake light, do you see an ABS light come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from ACC to IGN? But since you said: I'd have a look at the ABS sensors in the rear hubs to make sure they are not damaged, disconnected etc.
