Its more about weight transfer Bunt. In a car you turn the wheel and it transfers the weight for you. On a bike to go fast you have to climb all over them like a monkey on a stick each time you want to change direction. It takes time.

I admit generalisations suck balls. How many people with a decent set up car are going to be running from the cops? The majority of them are going to be 33s with china crap coil overs and standard brakes with a set of nankangs. In a perfect world a decent car is going to do alright but in reality its only ever going to end bad.

I'd say time lost in corners could more than be made up for with the wicked acceleration. Not going to argue hypotheticals anymore though.

I dont deal in hypo's. Here's a small mathematical equation for you.

A well shod bike has about a 50 mil contact patch with the road both front and rear. thats about 100 mil total.

A well shod car. (will use mine for the sake of the excercise) has 1 metre and 60 mil of contact area on the road.

A Busa weighs in around 350 kg, my car weighs in around 1300 kg.

Which do you think will stick better?

As for their giddyupgo in a straight line. Blistering, but certainly not twice as quick as the car. If memory serves me they do a low 10 second 1/4 mile. I do a low 11.

On anything but a straight road I will eat his lunch. (and have done) :D

Busas run 120/70 fronts and 190/50 rears. Say half of that which is 155mm contact patch. Pretty poor but they weigh a fair bit less than 350kg. Closer to 250kg with a full tank. The car will stick to the road better but that doesn't necessarily mean it will get away.

Both my parents ride 1000cc sport bikes and I always find it difficult to keep up. Reverse positions and they never have a problem keeping up with me. As I said well set up cars are the exception rather than the rule.

hyabusa weighs 220 kg dry. add fluids and a rider and they will see 300 plus kg's easily. :D

think about it. I add 93 kilo to the weight of the car. Less than 10 percent.

The copper adds a minimum of 90 kg. What percentage do you think that is?

Call the car 1400 kg for the excercise. Its contact patch v weight still far outdoes that of the bike.

And i dont have to climb all over the bike to get it to change direction in a hurry. I simply move the wheel and sit there solid as a rock in a full bucket seat.

i agree with everyone who says that the bike will be slower. the only reason why the cops might have these is simply to catch other bikes. or possibly on a highway pursuit. but round the narrow streets the bikes would get left for dead. while the busa might have accelleration from hell, it's handling (compared to other sports bikes) will send you there pretty quickly.

i've seen a police chase in town where a v6 commodore cop car was right up the arse of the bike it was chasing, until they got onto a straight section of road where the bike was able to pull away a bit. i was coming up to an intersection when the bike went flying past with the cop car right behind it. they had just come up a windy section of road

this would make sense, anyone who has been up the hills would know that there are sections with huge signs saying "MOTORBIKE CRASHES HAVE OCCURED IN NEXT 10KM" or something to that effect..

so they could just be there for that

or could be used to hide and catch spirited drivers speeding..

    • How would you even adjust the clutch if the pedal already has the correct free play? The operating cylinder has no adjustment in mounting position or rod length. On pull style clutches there is also no ability to adjust the bearing carrier. Push type I can see how adjusting the carrier height makes it all work.   If this is the twin plate clutch did you verify that your friction disks were oriented correctly? It's not mentioned in the directions at all you just have to notice that one side the friction disks have a part number on the hub fingers and a subtle coning to those fingers. Another thing that I noticed was if you put the friction disks in backwards the pressure plate fingers will not be even and flat when the clutch is installed.
    • yeah, mechanically, it is probably do-able, off the top of my head, there would be the transfer case, which I believe will bolt up to the rear of the RWD transmission, the shorter rear tail shaft. A front drive shaft, front diff, engine upper sump, front drive shafts, front hubs and front AWD struts (they are shaped around the front drive shafts), LCAs (at the very least from the front suspension) oil cooler.  You might want the rear diff from an AWD too, so you can be certain the front and rear diff rations are identical.  Who knows what brackets and mounts you might need.  So a whole doner car might be the best option if you need to maintain RHD. Then actually making it work, that would be a whole different story.
