wow, so anoyed at everyone pointing at F1 and saying "its not fun because there is no overtaking"

i think alonso hit the nail on the head about the re-fueling rule and its impact... heres an example

Last years race weekend:

P1-P3, no real change hard to tell who is running what fuel loads and who is realy the quickest (most of the time, occasionally u'd see red bull for example top the time sheets and you just know that they always run heavy that day and hence they had a QUICK car)

Q in general - no change, get to see if anyone makes a mistake and knocked out early or someone puts in a killer of a lap and makes it in but..

Q1 - now there is no stratergy, i've lost the ability to speculate peoples fuel loads, there no one like toyota putting in 5 laps of fuel just to take pole

after Q1 was over i'd look at the grid and go threw and put a +2 to any kers cars and see what that did to the running

then 3 hours or whatever it was the fuel loads were publish, and then there was who was actually faster and how that will play out

then all the press would bring out their predictions for pit stops and again i'd analyse stratergies

and the choice of hard/soft tyres would threw in yet another thing to consider

its here in qualifying that its REALLY hurting our races!! you take away ALL the options for teams, no optinos means no stratergy! no stratergy = boaring racing!!!! i loved qualifying about 2 years ago, not only did you have the stratergy, but you had cars doing lots of laps thanks to fuel credit!!!!!! what more could you want??

then the race... drivers were pushing hard the whole race last year! thats what we wanted to see, not tyre managment... you'd see how fuel loads and stratergies played out, drivers havint to push their cars to get overtaking windows with pit stops or even try and overtake. i agree there still wasent alot of overtaing, but thats not what the sport is about to me... i watch NASCAR for overtaing and crashes! (isnt that what americans are good for??), but still i found F1 entertaining becuase of this stratergy... with all these options taken away from teams the only thing left to them as a stratergy is "managing" cars and not driving them hard! that is the biggest dissapointment to me! what if sebastian vetel had to cover off 2 different ferarri stratergies last race because of 2 pit stops and fuel?? much more exciting in my opinion, and probably would have given you ferarri guys some hope... mad a differance to the result? probably not... but maybe there was a problem in a pit stop or massas stratergey went pear shapped and brought him back close to hamilton??

This years race weekend:

fastest cars line up from front to back in order of speed, reliability kills a few off, then we have a winner.. whoopie, where is the stratergy or fun in that??

i guess you can boil it down to "driving not managment" and "options not processions"

to me thats the heart of the problem, not sure if anyone else sees it that way

Definitely agree with youy there, i loved last years rules. When it came to pit stops is where the action was at and the overtaking. Now BACK TO BOREDOM.

on a side note hamilton has overtaken the rundle st utube man as my fav driver :)

I do like and commend his attitude regarding the NANNY states we live, regulated and taxed to the max on everything.

whats even more supprising to my as alonsos problems over the weekend... didn;t think i'd see a ferarri DNF this season unless someone drove into it =\

if reno get to unfreeze there engines... wow, could make this championship a 2 horse race

I'd be surprised if Renault were given permission to 'un-freeze' their engines to supposedly even things up. If I remember correctly they've been allowed to already back in 08 or 09.

I think if they're (FIA) going to introduce bullshit rules like they did with engine usage and development freeze's then they should stick to it. The rules are the same for everybody, so if one were to submit an under powered engine at the time of the dead line back in 2006 (I think) then too fkn bad...... or you have to 'un-freeze' it for everyone and I for one would love to see what the likes of Ferrari and Mercedes have come up with in the last 3 years.

yeah, i think its a bit BS too and i dont think it'll happen

but just putting it out there, how did the other engines get the extra 70hp more since there was a freeze on engine development and renault was allowed once already to match the competitors performance??

F1 after parties = awesome

although i only saw first 5 laps of teh race, and watched qualifying on a tv in a penthouse on Chapel St LOL

Yeah I went over and checked out all the GT cars.

I'm a huge fan of the Ascari (the yellow one) sounded amazing, up untill it was smashed into when it was broke down haha

The Mosler's looked great out there too! I unfortunetly had to sit in the rain getting my ear drums blown out during the warmups, qualitfying and the race for the F1's haha

Didn't go to any after party as it was my 22nd so went out on the town

Well unless you were a promo model or looked 21 wearing a skimpy outfit and had a hot friend next to you, you didn't get an invite to our party LOL

JB was a bit sore and sorry after the GT crash.

our cars made it through the weekend clean in 3rd, 5th and 7th

although there were some investigations into a few driver and moves (including our driver  )

    • You just need to remove the compressor housing, not the entire turbo. I would not be drilling and tapping anything with the housing still on anyways.
    • So, I put my boat on a boat. First of all, I'm going to come out and say it. Why is Tasmania not considered a holy goal, an apex that all road-legal modified cars go to, to experience? This place is an absolute wonderland of titanic proportions. If people are already getting club runs for once in a lifetime 30 person cruises to Tassy then I've never seemed to see it. It is like someone replaced the entire place with an idyllic wonderland for cars, and all of the people living there with paid actors who are kind, humble, and friendly. Dear god. After doing a lap of almost all of the place I've found that it's a great way to find out all of the little things that the car isn't doing quite right and a great way to figure it all out. All in all, I drove for 4 hours a day for a week and nothing broke. I didn't even need to open the engine bay. This is by all means a great success, but it has left me with a list of things to potentially address. I also now have a 3D printed wheel fitment tool which annoyingly hasn't got any threads in it to actually assemble it. I might be able to tape it together to check the sizing I actually want to use, but it'll likely involving pulling the shocks out to properly measure travel at least at the front, and probably raise the car while I'm at it, at least in the rear. I scraped on quite a few things and I'm not sure how else to go about it. I was taking anything with a bump at what felt like 89 degree angles. And address those 10 other tasks. And wash the car. God damn it is dirty. And somehow, the weather was perfect the entire time - And because I was on the top of Mt Wellington it turns out it was very much about to freeze up there. I did something I typically never do and took some photos up there in what must have been -10 and the foggy felt like suspended ice, rather than mere fog. If you own a car in Australia, you owe it to yourself to do it.
    • Damn that was hilarious, and a bit embarrassing for skylines in general 😂 vintage car life ey. That R33 really stomped. Pretty entertaining stuff
    • Hi, I have a r32 gtr transmission. Does any of you guys have an idea how much power it will hold with the billet center plate and stock gearset? At what power level and use did yours brake with or without billet plate? Thanks, Oystein Lovik
    • Saw this replica police car based on a Mitsubishi Starion XX parked next to a 'police box' (it's literally a box) in Hirohata, Himeji City in Hyogo prefecture the other day. It's owned by Morii-san who is a local Mitsubishi Starion enthusiast. According to a local radio station blog post, he always wanted to make a police car himself based on ones he saw in his favourite Manga comics.  As it's illegal to modify a car to look like a police car and drive on the road, Morii-san tried many times to get permission from Aboshi police station headquarters nearby. They refused initially by after they got tired of that they granted him permission. However, the car can only be displayed on private property and obviously can't be registered as long as the police livery is present. The car was completed at a cost of 1.5 million yen (US$ 10,000) in addition to the car cost. A location was chosen outside Hirohata Police box where the car can easily been seen from the street. Morii-san has two other Starion road cars, both widebody GSR-VRs.
