What is the approximate CTP cost for a 33 skyline? seems to work different to VIC where you pay it in your rego and you have no choice as to who you use (has to be TAC in VIC).

Here it seems you have to nominate who you wish to provide that. Right?

Just wondering how much it will cost to get my rego changed to QLD basically.

You get to choose your CTP insurance company but the price is fixed between all companies, its regulated by the QLD government. Sometimes companies give you discounts on your other insurance if you choose them for your CTP. I think (like MJ said) 12 months rego was about $620ish last time.

Thats very expensive actually.. its $520 in VIC and that includes CTP (although in VIC its called it personal injury insurance or something). Looking at suncorp, its like $357, so plus the $325 for the rego = $682! It really costs you guys that much to keep a car on the road??

But thanks, guess i'll have to pay it sometime :D

I just registered a 34 GTR today. CTP was $357 for 12 months. I don't have the exact amount for rego (also paid stamp duty/cost of plates etc. at the same time) but I received the CTP amount as a rebate on my rego. The rego on my 33 GTR was about $680 from memory.

Thats why all the big car rental companies up here register their cars in Victoria. Have a look in their lots, you won't see one car in their registered in Queensland even though the cars spend their working lives up here, why would you if you had the choice.

Even VIC keeps going up and up by about $40 a year and I thought that was expensive. I remember about 7 years ago i was paying $360 i think for full rego for a year in VIC.

I now see why there are no really cheap cars for like $1000 (or less) like you can find in other parts of the country. Then again it would probably drive a lot of the old rust buckets off the road up here which is sometimes a good thing.

I live in qld but register the car in nsw. costs me $480/yr ($220 CTP NRMA - cheapest - and $260 rego). In nsw it goes by the weight of your car, and i was able to prove that my R33 weighed 1350kg which put it in a lower bracket than most 6cyl cars. A nice $200 saving over qld rego.....

    • What Duncan said sounds right. Also, it looks like they only have the driver's mat. Not the rest. Because looking at the diagram: KG4911 is just the mat for the driver. KG4900 is the full set if I'm not mistaken and discontinued.   But, it looks like they may still have the full set for the manual S2. Might be worth checking for the other models as well as they seem slightly different. https://www.amayama.com/en/genuine-catalogs/epc/nissan-japan/stagea/wgnc34/6649-rb25det/misc/G49 Man, I'm tempted.
    • I dunno about that as a blanket statement. Pitwork is Nissan's "Nissan genuine" thing, and for stuff like timing belts, I have found them to be excellent. Of course, for things like oil filters, you always use proper trusted brands anyway, not whatever the OEM has taken to using.
    • Ahhhh... If you were putting 12V to the led in there, that's likely made it very unhappy. Chances are how you put power, was 12V across an LED that's meant to only have about 20mA through it at peak, and a forward voltage of about 1.8 to 2.4 volts. That circuit is likely only a 3V3 circuit, and will have a resistor in series with the led too. That's my guesstimate on that light, without having touched one.
    • Another vote for installing them and see how you go.  I mean, you already own them, why would you not fit them?
    • I have had too many of those over the years, my cars have a toolkit or at minimum a cheapy multi tool thing because its too easy to be snookered by some stupid plastic clip that stops you checking the battery terminal isn't loose.
