Here's a weird one.

My r34 had a miss at several points between 4 and 5 grand under load. car has 68000 kms on it so i replaced the plugs with new iridium ones which seemed to fix it.

went on a trip to melbourne and... went fine down there but while there it did the same (no maybe similar). replaced the fuel filter to be sure but no change.

what it does now is fart around at high revs (over 5k). it spits and farts (i'm good with tech stuff) at high revs/loads and shits me right off. it got gradually worse so that now when overtaking I never use second (whereas before I would use it it to kick me from 90 to 120 when behind a gobbler) i only use 3rd. even in that gear i don't like revving it too much much cos above 4500 it gets that old miss again.

I am starting to think it's possibly heat related cos it's mainly happened on hot days after a fair amount of driving and earlier today i went for a drive and it didn't happen at all.

it sucks cos i feel like i have an engine that can only handle 4000 rpm..

I'm thinking coils but surely these suckers should last longer than 70k ???

any thoughts? (other than get your shit together you blubbering fool...) :hellpisd:

my R32 did that and found out that the 6th plug tip was almost burnt off due to lean mixtures. i installed a air/fuel ratio gauge in my car after that happened. when the car hits 5 grand the power dies off completly. it still accelerates but it has no power behind it.. i installed a 500hp fuel pump and changed the fuel filter and that still didn't do the trick... now i'm thinking it could be the fuel pressure regulator. anyone got any thoughts on it?

getting back to your prob. have a look at number 6 plug and see what the go is.

Had the same problem with mine ,took the plugs out regaped them to 0.8 .

I suspected the coil packs as well so I wrapped insulating tape around the stem of each pack, so if they were arcing across to the cylinder head it would stop them.

Anyway whatever the problem was plugs or coils it has fixed the problem.

I also took my Turbosmart BOV of the car and put the standard one back. The car would never run right with the Turbosmart BOV on,runs like a dream now.

    • I was only looking because I saw some drops on the ground but it wasn't alot. Recently had it serviced will ask the mech to confirm. Find it strange that it looks standard though, can see in another photo of a random box
    • So...not sure if you know if that has always been there or why you went looking. It could be old damage from a clutch explosion, or even just the gearbox got dropped somewhere along the line. Basically, you should seal it up to stop oil and dust getting into the bellhousing, but it doesn't matter too much and is not structural. I'd suggest something like a glob of JB Weld. BTW what gearbox oil are you running, I would guess the breather has been spewing it everywhere.
    • Hey Duncan thanks for your reply. Sorry mate I know the photos are shit.  Took another photo for reference. Seems the casing does have a hole in it looking on the net, fluid seeping out. Added a photo
    • Very hard to make out what you mean, is it the squarish hole with redline shockproof (probably) under it? Is that pic from on top of the engine with the firewall to the left of pic and engine to the right? Either way, spray the area liberally with degreaser and try again, maybe circle the part you are worried about
    • Hey all, Noticed I have a hole on top of which im guessing is my transfer case/gearbox. I can see it from the middle of my firewall looking down. S1 R33 gtr Any advice or can pinpoint what this is/caused this?
