Basically been right through the car.

Had a small amount of rust in the front of the chassis.

That was cutout and plated with the whole underneath of the car proofcoated before the car was complied and licensed.

All new suspension with Koni shocks and king springs.

Selby swaybars

Bigger turbo with front mount intercooler and Autronic computer.

Retrimmed interior with WRX seats

Heaps of other things that I've forgotten over the last 2 years :)

WOW, what a difference a tuner makes.

After the new turbo and autronic fitting dramas I was never that happy with the performance of the car.

Something was just not right but the tuner assured me it was as good as it could be.

It was running out of injectors and needed upgrading so that limited the power to 220rwhp.

The power was OK but the delivery was woefull.

Problem was that changing from first to second near the redline resulted in some lag until the revs built up again.

It was not really pleasant to drive that way and made it difficult to use in the tight circuit as per the above youtube video.

So the car has been sitting in my Son in laws workshop since June as I have no space left at home (too many toys).

We changed the injectors and returned the car to the same tuning workshop (the tuner had loked the Autronic so I had to go back (another story))

Anyway the well renowned tuner only worked contract for the workshop and is unreliable. He started working on the tune encountered a problem then dissappeared for weeks at a time.

i asked the workshop to get their new tuner to look at it instead of waiting so he went right through the car and found a number of problems that the other guy had overlooked. First off the turbo actuator was not operating correctly , there was an issue with the timing causing the missfire that the other tuner walked away from. To the new tuners credit he rang Autronic over east and sought some advise and fixed the problem the supposed Autronic expert tuner couldn't.

Anyway the results are amazing. Not only was there a power increase ,when changing into second this beast tries to shred the tyres :O:):D

This car is so torquey now by comparision. Felt like a new car when I drove it back to my Son in Laws workshop.

He will service the car and we'll do a few other jobs over the next 2 weeks until his new house is finished and the DR gets a permenant home at his place. I can then house the DR or GTR at his place so I can get to drive which one I feel like.

So to summarise

Tuner 1 =220rwhp

Tuner 2 =288rwhp :P

The tuner got the car to post 320rwhp but backed it off at my request as he recommends an actuator change to a lower psi rating to control the boost better.

The engine is stock internally

I've fitted a KKR380 turbo and PI-1 intercooler.

plus a Autronic SMC computer and keeping boost to 17psi.

The 288hp is just a number so not sure what you'll get on another dyno.

Main thing for me was going from 220 to 288hp on the same dyno

    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
    • Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
    • Hi Everyone I am from West Pennant Hills in NSW. Been too busy until recently to attend to my RB25DET Series 2 engine until recently. I am planning to stick it into the S15 shell at this stage, unless a nice SR20DET turns up... For now, i am going to try and get the RB25 running and working well then decide what gearbox to use. My preference is to retain the SR20DET  6 speed gearbox and tail shaft to retain as much and least modifications as i can avoid. I am an old guy and won't be doing any heavy drifting so i don't need a bullet proof gearbox Does anyone have experience with starting the RB on a stand? I got everything setup as much as I can with the info i can find... endless searching and videos on Youtube I would be great to get some pointers Cheers Songo
    • Hey all, Recently have had my s1 r33 gtr serviced and noticed my coolant reservoir was topped up to the max line. Took the car out for 1 yesterday and noticed today the reservoir is completely empty.  Any ideas? Radiator is full
