Differences Between S1 And S2 Powersteering Pumps?

Hey i blew mine up, got one off a mate, it seemed to have a different metal thing around the hose, and and the shaft seemed to move in and out. where as mine didnt?

i think it might have been a s2 one because it appeared different

chucked it it, worked fine for a while now it dies, and then schreeches and comes back on as if its slipping. now in s2 the pump isnt one of the ones where if it needs it the wheel pops in and the spins the pump, and pops back out when its not needed..

p.s belts are tight etc.
