Firmness Of Suspension

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, just got my car for almost a week now. Before I got my car, I was watching a review of the G35 in youtube and the review was saying the car's suspension is smooth and nice and much better than the 350Z for usual roads.

After 1 week of driving on NZ roads, i note that the car is nice n quiet on smooth tar road. However, when there are more bumpy roads, I note that the car's suspension is quite firm and the noise level is much higher.

Just keen to know what's everyone's experience and verdict for their v35's suspension. Mine is stock suspension + stock Bridgestone Potenza 18 inch tyres.

I've got stock suspension and stock 18s (45/18 rubber) and I imagine the experience is much similar to yours. The car is exceptionally smooth for what I would have expected. I have a Honda Accord Euro CL9 too which is lowered on Eibach Pro springs and Koni Yellow adjustable shocks with 40/18 rubber and the V35 is considerably smoother over bumps

Yeap, got a coupe too. Smooth road is smooth as. Bumpy rough roads, more road noise and what not, but I don't think it's that uncomfortable?

I came from an s14 lowered, so everything about this car is more comfortable :D

Are you trying to compare it against any particular car?

Coupe has firmer suspension than sedans, so if you're after a totally smooth ride, get the sedan...

The 350gt/gt8 has the same suspension as the 350 coupe, as the spring rates are the same.

I have the GT8 and have fitted a full Nismo set from a 350z, the spring rates are slightly different to the Skyline spec items, .1 kg different front and rear, the ride is still good but the handling is much improved, reduced body roll.

Well I m not really comparing it with other cars. And I did expect the car to have a firmer suspension compare to a sedan. It is a sports coupe afterall. So definitely not complaining n I do feel the ride is great. I guess my only little concern is really the noise level on bumpy road. It's still smooth though just abit noisier. But like I say I m not complaining as I m loving every second I m driving the car.

The main reason I started the thread was just to know how others feel.

    • Hey Kaz, Unfortunately I am not at home currently and wont be for a few more months so I do not have access to my files or CAD. And at this point I prefer to keep the files to myself as I want to potentially make a few more pairs and see if they will sell within the EU before openly marketing them. But the way it's shaped and how small it is, I don't think you can fit both an indicator and a fog light onto the same surround, unless they were very small LED-type clusters.
    • I’ve just installed a Uniclutch sport into my R32. I’ve been blown away by it… it drives like a stock Toyota Corolla. It doesn’t make sense to me that a performance clutch can drive this well. I was about to pull the trigger on a Nismo Coppermix twin plate when I discovered the Uniclutch and decided to give that a shot instead. They’ve changed the game and I couldn’t be happier.    I was previously using an Extreme cushioned button clutch with lightened flywheel. I’m still using the same lightened flywheel with the Uniclutch.
