Do I have a fault in my system? Sometimes the orange light in the Power/Snow switch flashes more times than others. My car has always flashed it about 3/4 each time I turn it on, but lately it's been flashing alot more. Not always though, but I'm noticing it lately. Nothing seems to be wrong in the car otherwise though :D

I have had the power button flash everytime i start the car in the last 2 weeks too...asked several of my mates and they dont have a clue lol any info would be much appreciated

I found this on the skylineowners forum.

Auto Transmission Diagnostics

----------------------------------------

Enter the auto transmission diagnostics mode

1 Have the car at normal temperature in Park with the overdrive on

2 Start the engine the power light will go out after 2 seconds

3 Turn the ignition off

4 Move the selector to Drive (you may have to use the push

button release)

5 Overdrive off

6 Wait 2 seconds, and turn the ignition on

7 Wait 2 seconds and move the selector to 2

8 Overdrive on

9 Move the selector to 1

10 Overdrive Off

11 Press the accelerator fully and release

Auto transmission diagnostics codes

The error codes are flashed out using the Power light on the

dashboard (R32) or the Power/Snow button (R33). The sequence

starts with one long flash. If everything is OK, this will be

followed by ten short flashes.

Errors are indicated by a long flash in the sequence of short flashes.

1st flash longer Revolution sensor shorted or disconnected

2nd flash longer Speed sensor shorted or disconnected

3rd flash longer Throttle sensor shorted or disconnected

4th flash longer Shift solenoid A shorted or disconnected

5th flash longer Shift solenoid B shorted or disconnected

6th flash longer Overrun clutch solenoid shorted or disconnected

7th flash longer Lockup solenoid shorted or disconnected

8th flash longer Fluid temperature sensor is disconnected or

the control unit power source is damaged

9th flash longer Engine revolution sensor shorted or disconnected

10th flash longer Line pressure solenoid shorted or disconnected

All flashes the same with no long start flash means Battery voltage low

or has been recently disconnected or control unit has just

been reconnected

Now mine is flashing when I turn the car on, not when I'm putting into a test mode. But I wonder if this information is still relevant. Will print it out and have it with me next time I start the car.

Cheers, yeah ill give it a go and let you know.....it was after i f**ked around with the stereo in my car and the car felt like it was dragging ass and won't go into 3rd or 4th at all (pretty much as soon as i finished with the stereo) only drives in second and if i get to about 80km/hr the revs are at 3000rpm and if i let the accelerator go revs drop to 1000rpm or sometimes lower...checked all the fuses, replaced them (non were damaged, but just as a precaution and went through all the fuses in the engine bay and connections with contact cleaner (no difference).

cheers

Worked a treat for me mate...the 3rd flash and 5th flash were longer so TPS is rooted and the Shift solenoid B is gone...cheers heaps for the post and hope it all works out..

    • Will have a look at that. I cant see any leaks
    • Put another overflow bottle (ie, a 1.25 coke bottle or similar) under the overflow hose and see if it is being pushed out there or if it is disappearing into the engine.
    • Staring on a stand is no issue. You just have to wire everything up, give it fuel and cross your fingers that the stand is robust enough. Arranging the inlet plumbing is often the hardest part, without any surrounding structure to hand some of it from. No need for coolant if you only want to run it for <1 minute. As to the gearbox - I think the little Aisin box is a bit stronger than the other small Nissan boxes that went behind SRs, but I wouldn't be too keen to test its limits with the torque of a boosted 25. I don't know if you can retain the box and the tailshaft. The box won't connect to the RB without an adapter of some sort, which is either a plate that will push the engine forward (which is not good for fitting it into the bay's available space) or push the box back, which messes with the box position and tailshaft length - OR - cut and shut work on the bellhousing, which is a long way from "least modification". I'd be buying a new 370Z 6 speed or similar, doing what has to be done to that to make it fit RB (ie, cut and shut bellhousing) and the requisite tailshaft custom/mods.
    • Hi Everyone I am from West Pennant Hills in NSW. Been too busy until recently to attend to my RB25DET Series 2 engine until recently. I am planning to stick it into the S15 shell at this stage, unless a nice SR20DET turns up... For now, i am going to try and get the RB25 running and working well then decide what gearbox to use. My preference is to retain the SR20DET  6 speed gearbox and tail shaft to retain as much and least modifications as i can avoid. I am an old guy and won't be doing any heavy drifting so i don't need a bullet proof gearbox Does anyone have experience with starting the RB on a stand? I got everything setup as much as I can with the info i can find... endless searching and videos on Youtube I would be great to get some pointers Cheers Songo
    • Hey all, Recently have had my s1 r33 gtr serviced and noticed my coolant reservoir was topped up to the max line. Took the car out for 1 yesterday and noticed today the reservoir is completely empty.  Any ideas? Radiator is full
