hi guy and girls

i have a idea to help make WA roads a more friendlier place and may change peoples peseptions of car enthusiasts.

why dont we just leave ower jumper leads and some tools in a bag in ower boots and if we see sombody with car problems why not help them out it should only take 5min for a jump and if its more than that well i guess thats too bad.

and after helping them out suggest to them to pay if forwed. jumper lead cost under $20 and at the same time show them how car enthusiasts are not that bad.

i though of this after seeing a mother in a car park that couldnt start her car and i just though that if i had some jumper leads i could have had her running in under 5 min and what would it cost me. nothing and would save her hr's and $$$ if she had to call a tow truck.

the next step would be to get ppl to cary and USE UHF radios :D

I broke down a while ago. Some bogan saw this and walked up to my car.

I explained the battery was having issues and asked if he'd help me push it off the main road just to a side road.

He said he'd happily help if I got him a six pack.

I told him to go eat a dick and then pushed the car myself.

I wonder how his dick eating went.

More to the topic, the idea is nice. But then some arsehole pretends to break down. When someone goes to help him, he robs the person and steals their car.

It's a cruel cruel world

When you're on your own

It's a cold cold heart

That could turn you down

It's a cruel cruel world

When you're on your own

If you need a friend

I could be the one

Meh, I think your suggestion is kind and it's a nice idea in essence but I don't believe it would affect anything in regards to the 'hoon' reputation slapped onto skyline drivers.. ACA an TT have already saturated Australia with its BS reports and even if we each helped out 10 people a week the mentality would stick.

If helping people out created a good reputation everybody would absolutely love cops, sadly as with most things it's the bad experiences that are remembered.

IE: 100 people with skylines help 100 poor little old ladies with their broken down cars, 1 guy drifts and has his hektik mates record it the 'news' gets a hold of it and a few million people make their mind up that Skyline = hoon.

/end rant

Guys this is a great idea as i too try to remove the stigma attached to driving a skyline.

i will always allow people to cross the road and i will hold up traffic i also have helped a few people with their cars... then as i drive past and they hear the exhaust i get a disgusted look from them like i am a hoon, even though seconds earlier i stopped to let them cross...

the fact is 'itsme' is right and the current affair programs have already brain washed people

yer i did think of that, solution also bring a crescent and go :D if they try 2 pull anything stupid. :) re enactment = :P

yer it would take only one report to ruin any good that was done but come on if one person changes there mind for the good thats a win.

i loled at the cop reference but i guess i could be wrong. maybe i should see past the BS i have been through with the cops and spare a though for to good guys

well back to topic. nobody gives a shit about any one else on the road they only think about them selves and maybe something like this will be the beginning of something bigger 50yr down the track. with drivers that actually agnolage u when u let them in or not having to think what every driver around u is going to do to avoid being in a crash

so who is going to think about helping out others ?

i know when i get a chance im going to get a another set of jumper leads to leave in the car and a cheap crescent what it migh cost $30 i spend more than that in one day a EP tafe :P

My now wife got stuck at the lights on the canning bridge one day and everyone was happy to beep her but only one person (after about nealy 20 min just as i got there) got out and pushed her out of the way. This has scared the crap out of her so if it even sounds like the car will stall she starts to panic.

So from this I make a point of trying to help when ever i can, as they say karma is a b*tch. So much so that I have even had an article written about me (the persons dad was a writer for a local paper) and this is the only way i could see it making an effect. Wait till one of the reporters from TT or ACA get stuck, help them out and then get a story done on how import drivers are all nice, but i dont see that happening.

I agree with this... happened to someone back in China.

Also I have come to terms with that I don't care what other people think off me when I drive around in the Skyline...

    • Ha, well, it's been.... a bit of a journey. Things have taken much longer than I'd hoped. I'll probably put up a thread at some stage. Hopefully soon. The car's not done any kms since my update in June though, put it that way.
    • Here's the chart for fuel pressure vs. current draw, assuming your base fuel pressure is 3 bar and you run like 0.5bar boost on WOT, you should only momentarily hit 9amps here and there. (Ignore my prev post, I cannot read a chart these days it seems)
    • Those comp test results are not hideous. Whether they are accurate or not (ie, when that comp tester says 140 psi, is the real pressure120, 140 or 160?) is unknown to us. The state of the battery used to crank it over is unknown, etc etc. Many people around here would say that the absolute values and the spread are perfectly fine to just add boost and keep going. I personally would be happier with a narrower spread than that, but even the diff between 125 and 145 is not terrible. That one cylinder at 125 though, has probably copped some damage relative to the others. You should inspect the valves seeing as you've got it open. Do you know how to measure installed ring gaps? That, and an inspection of the rings themselves, is how you will determine whether they need to be replaced. If you're not good to do these things, take the block and the pistons and rings to a shop that is, and ask them for the go/no-go on them. Do the bores need a hone at all? If so, you might well be justified in getting some different pistons in order to get away from the ring supply problem. Whether you're happy to spend a lot more money right now, on more gear, rather than less money, but an amount that looks stupid given that you will only get a handful of rings in exchange for that money, is for you to decide.
    • also possibly backed up to my filler and shat down it! 🤣
    • Ok so i would love some advice here please, i purchased an R33 a few months back and its had a few mods done to the engine, its an RB25det running a Master ECU, 1200cc injectors, bigger turbo, oil cooler, oil filter relocation kit, Spool H-beam rods, acl/ross pistons. When i removed the motor from the vehicle (as its getting a respray) i thought i would compression test it and these are the following results. Cylinder 1-145psi, Cylinder 2-143psi, Cylinder 3-125psi, Cylinder 4-145psi, Cylinder 5-140psi, Cylinder 6-135psi this test was done with the motor on the ground and powering up the starter motor. I dropped the sump and found broken oil squirters on cylinder 3,5 and 6. I was told my rings are probably worn so i stripped the motor completely to get a new set of rings for it. The trouble is no one has these rings anywhere and they have to be custom made by Ross over in the states and will cost about $600+$200 delivery. My question is how can i tell if my rings are at fault and if they are still ok and is this price ok for a set of rings?
