I've been building a retaining wall out the back, and during a break I :) comparisons between 4motion and clio sport/cup.

I let your thread go, because I had to go back to wk and the links have been dropped.

Then I noticed this morning how lonely this thread was so far...

All I can remember atm, was Nurburgring 4motion > 9'09" & clio/cup III 8'47"

I don't think the 4motion had turbo on it tho'

Sorry.

for the money you will spend on a golf, especially in oz, there are far better options out there, in my opinion. golf's are like a disease over here in england, and i have driven quite a few, and honestly not a very special car at all. 2 positives i will point out are that the diesel models have really good fuel consumption (but sound like a tradies ute) ,and the German build quality is pretty sound (although some would argue that because of the gross mass production of golfs in recent years, build quality has slipped quite a bit..)

hope this helps.

These guys are spot on.

I have a MkV GTI as my daily and I'm one of the fussiest rasters when it comes to cars, always get sick of them after a year or so, but had my GTI for almost 4 years now and love every second I'm in it. And that's amazing for me. They're brilliant to the point that when 3 years came up, I went looking for a replacement and just couldn't bear to be in anything else. I even drove a number of E46 M3's as this was something I really wanted, and the Golf was just a much better all rounder. Was really dissapointed in the M3.

Prices are coming down a bit now with Mk6 out, so not sure of your budget, but MKV is brilliant. I went looking at the new GTI and even the new R recently and cannot change it. And when I bought the GTI, I actually went to the dealer to pick up an R32 and ended up putting a deposit on the GTI, so that speaks of how good I think this thing is

Still need the Fatboy in the garage for the weekend blasts though.

    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
    • Legend. I ended up finding the facebook account of the owner of the first car i sent but sadly he deactivated the account. I think you’re right in saying it’s some sort of well done custom job. Really appreciate your help anyways.
