hey peeeps

For sumreason in the last month my speakers in my R32 have become distorted its really anoying and i dont wanna wanna spend money to get it fixed when i could do it myself if sum1 could help that would be great??

cheers

at all volume levels ? or random?

what brand of speaker?

how much power ? run off the deck or amp?

do they do it cold and hot after running a little while?

fronts or rears?

any music or talk radio as well ?

if you can record a few seconds of it on a phone or ? and post it up it might help troubleshoot a lot..as you can see we need more info before pointing you in the right direction.

is it distortion(music that sounds funny/muddy/popping)

or static electricity sounds/whine

type of deck ? stock or after market ?

if it has a old type rotary volume knob it can be a problem if the car was smoked in or driven in lots of dust

amps ?

sound more like a bad wiring/circuit board if a bump in the road fixes it

have you faded the speaker to each one separate and tested to be sure its not just one speaker your hearing ?

more info please

Hey

ok I have a pioneer deck Stock speakers. ATM I only have sound at the front. while I'm driving the back spearkers make disorted noise like crackling.I think there's a loose conection sumwhere. It's disorted when u turn the volume up too ??

first guess - look at the speakers in the boot up close, baby bolts hitting the wires, loose speaker wires hitting the metal of the car from rear speakers area(aftermarket decks don't like using the car body for the ground on the speaker wires too many OHMS..lol), tinsel leads that go from the speaker connection to the speaker coil touching metal , re-bend carefully.

or simply the factory paper cone speakers are cracked on the cone from being old and in the UV sun all day, if they make a rough sound the voice coils might be fried, you can tell if you carefully push on the cone with even force to move it in and out, if you feel grinding, dirty feel its most likely dead. (OHM meter can tell you as well)

cracked cones, ditch them for some new ones, you don't need to spend a mint to improve over factory..lol

'

next option would be the deck wiring is stuffed , most likely a "tape the wire together" job that has come loose and now shorts out random ?

    • My thought is if you were just moving it forward and the upstream geometry remained the same, then no difference at all. But because the current one has the filter direct into the AFM inlet, you effectively have the best chance of a completely symmetric air flow profile upstream, and in, the AFM, whilst the aftermarket inlet thingo has a (small, to be sure) bend between the filter and the AFM. That would bias the flow to the outside of the bend (downstream of the bend) which might well reduce the size of the signal seen by the AFM, for the same total flow rate. Having said that: If you're proposing to make your inlet look like a hybrid of your existing one and the aftermarket one, such that there is no bend where the filter is clamped on... then I say it will be just fine. If there is going to be such a bend, then, if you can align the insertion of the AFM blade such that it is at right angles to the plane of the bend, then there is a better than even chance that the centreline velocity where the blade is will remain more or less the same, and the velocity will just be a little faster to the outside of that, and just a little slower to the inside. **This is not professional investment advice and you should consult a suitably qualified ouija board, tea leaves or the intestines of a goat for more accurate prognostication.
    • Hi Tao, Thanks for your reply.  It's been a while and I managed to get the valve stem seals replaced with the head on the car.  Unfortunately this didn't solve my issue, the car still smokes a lot after idling (to be honest during idle you can see a bit of blue smoke from the exhaust), same after deceleration. I will try disconnecting the valve cover breathers, do I leave the PCV valve in? By engine oil drain pipe, do you mean the turbo oil drain?
    • What about if you just give it direct 12v and earth?
    • Hi guys . Can someone help me  I bought an Android screen for my Nissan fuga but it won't turn on
    • My guesstimate, with no real numbers to back it up, is it won't effect it greatly at all.its not a huge change in position, and I can't see the air flow changing from in turbulence that much based on distance, and what's in front of it. Johnny and Brad may have some more numbers to share from experience though.
