Hi guys,

Ive got a friend with a vl turbo and its running rich/lean and keeps going either way. The ECU is giving mixed signals and keeps making the engine either run lean or rich.

1986 rb30et

auto

pod filter

front mount intercooler

3 inch bend exhaust

14psi

Will an safc correct this problem? Does the safc hook up to the rb30et ?

Any other associated nasties with an safc on the rb30et or leaving it run lean/rich?

Is there a better way of fixing this?

Thanks heaps

hehe, it's perfectly normal if it's happening under light -medium load. It's called closed loop operation. The ECU constanly monitors the Air fuel ratio through the oxygen sensor and varys the mixtures between rich-lean every second or so. It is not noticeable under light load and achieves much better fuel consumption and also keeps the cat converter at a operating temperature.
