Hi, recently when I turn my car on I can here a weird clicking noise coming from the gearbox. It kind of sounds like a cricket (insect).

Weird thing is that when I even budge my clutch (1-2inches) the nose disappears... I've also noticed that the gearbox tends to make weird noises when changing into 2nd-3rd, almost like a rumbling noise.

Any idea what the issue could be? The clicking noise started before the gear changing noises. It just sounds as if the gears aren't changing smoothly. When the gearbox makes the rumbling noise during gear changes the clutch also vibrates under my foot.

Thanks in advance!

the noise will have nothing to do with the service unless the gearbox oil was changed as well. if it was then the gearbox oil may be slightly thinner and is making the noise more evident than it was, or you are simply hearing it for the first time and it has been there for a while.

the noise is more than likely the throw out bearing (or is it the input shaft bearing, i can never remember which) though, which wouldn't be altered by the service at all. generally if the noise goes away with pushing the clutch pedal then it is that.

Thanks for the reply, what about the rumbling from the gear box during gear changes? The clutch is actually only about 8months old.. and it grabs very well.. there's no slipping at all. I understand there's other components of the clutch that can have issues, but could it actually be the gear box?

I let my mums friend take i for a drive with me and he seems to think its a loose bearing, since all the gears and changing well (except for the rumbling noise into 2nd and then into 3rd).

The rumbling noise actually isn't present when going down gears, it feels absolutely perfect.

    • Agreed, I've never seen a 260RS specific manual. As GTSBoy said it will mostly be stagea other than the engine loom https://www.hgeconsulting.com.au/stageaservicemanual.pdf
    • You'lll likely have to make do with R33 GTR for engine/tranny stuff, and Stagea for the body. I don't know that there's even been an actual diagram seen in the wild.
    • Haha, i kow right? Could have bought so many cars for the same amount of money (or less) but driving Unicorn gives you at least +1mln to style 😅. Like wise man said "life's to short to drink cheap wine and drive boring cars" 😉
    • Newbie here, proud owner of an Autech 260RS. I'm on the hunt for wiring diagrams specific to the 260RS, particularly S1. I've ran my eyes through R33, R34 Diagrams, there are some similarities, however continue to find incorrect wire colours and pins on connectors in the 33,34 diagrams.   I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction? I'd be happy to pay for the originals in Japanese. I can translate them, at least they would be accurate.   Any help please would be greatly appreciated, never heard an RB26DETT before let alone driven one, and I've got a spaghetti monster of goodness to sort out.   Cheers Benny
