G'day guys

I've had by new baby for a week now and I'm well and truly smitten. I have a couple of quick questions however.

Firtsty: What do these buttons do. First thought was that it was the one on the right was for the rear wiper, but that's controlled by a knob on the wiper stalk, demist is a button next to the centre diff option. As for the selector switch on the left I have no idea.

Secondly: I'm trying to get to the TV tuner to have a look at the inputs as I'm looking into a TV tuner like the HR3 (side question: anyone know where I can lay my hands on one?) I'll start with the pic.

From reading these forums I'm lead to believe its behind 'X'. Getting A, B and C out was a simple affair once I located the nuts for B behind the spare wheel cover (10mm socket seems to fit absolutely everything on this car).

I left D where it was as I ran out of time to check how it came out and what was under it.

E and F where a simple affair.

I then got 4 little screw-clip's off (2 behind the E flap and 2 in the doorway off the photo to the left). The interior piece X looked like it should just fold out with some gentle persuasion, however it was stuck fast and I didn't want to risk breaking anything by pulling too hard. Have I missed something?

Finally Question C:

I've managed to burn through 2 tanks of fuel in quick succession, getting about 340-350k's per tank. I'm putting crap fuel economy down to an excited right foot (going from a non-turb RB30 to RB25DET can have that effect). Once I restrain myself, at what point should I look at replacing things like sensors? I know these things aren't the most fuel efficient but it seems to get into the low end of the spectrum very quickly indeed. Engine is all stock (not even had the boost solenoid bypassed). With Leather seats I expect she would be pretty heavy.

Thanks is advance guys!!

Hi mate

The dial on the left adjusts the angle of your headlights up or down, as for the switch on the right i think i remember reading that it turns on the window/mirror heaters? Dont know for sure though. As for the fuel economy there are a heap of threads on here about that see if you can find them with search, but 350kms seems pretty normal from what other users have posted for stock cars, you can try getting your O2 sensor checked to make sure it is working correctly when I first got mine I was getting very bad economy and an intermittent warning light on the dash caused by a shagged O2 sensor

Thanks for that guys. Be sure to play with the headlights in the alley near my place next time I take her out at night.

Any ideas on getting behind that trim? Have I missed something or does it just need a little more less-gentle persuation?

Bentwagon I dont think so, I looked into trying to get mine around there, not much room at all depending on the size of the amp, also you dont want an amp under a piece of interior like that they put out alot of heat, best place imo is under the driver side seat, the floor is completely flat on that side whereas there is a bump under the passneger chair so not as much room, also if u want advice on where to feed ur power line through when u get too it hit me up i did all mine myself and found an awsome completely concealed place to go through.

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.

    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts

    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
