hey guys up until a few months ago i owned an n14 SSS pulsar, it had coilovers, sway and strut bars, an SR20de making about 110kw @ the wheels and a stripped interior as my daily. My girlfriend got sick of us having to take her car every time we went out and told me to buy something safer and more practical to put our son it. so i went and picked up an r33 Gts-t. Apparently to her this is not a practical car with a kid, I sat her down and explained to her as nice as I could "too bad car stays" lol. Over the past months i have been spending a bit of time and cash on the 33 so i thought i would make a build thread so I could keep track of what is going on with the car.

this is how it looked the day i picked it up

on the way home I stopped at a mates place that some how picked up the sound of an exhaust leek, I could not hear it at all lol. We had a look around and discovered a few broken exhaust studs. Next day go straight into it and ripped everything off to start replacing the studs (and broke a few more)

and putting it all back together.

Next thing on the list was a service. Not owning a car like this before I wasn`t too sure what to get hope I got what i should of lol. Hpr15 oil, Greddy oil filter, NGK copper plugs ( i don`t like irridiums), Nulon Long Life coolant along with engine and coolant flush.

After all of this i was feeling kinda happy with the car and cruised around for a bit only to get Defected on my way home one night. Not to worry some dodgy moves and it passed. It was at this point i thought the Hektick Dose was crap and opted to run the stock BOV and went about trying to make it a little more un-noticeable and painted the cooler black.

  • 5 weeks later...

I haven`t put anything up here for a while but not much has really changed my interior plastics from my gear stick surround to my dash surround have started to go all crap and the paint on them is pealing and really lets the inside down. I tried to sand it down and paint it black but you could tell it wasn`t original so I have scraped that idea and started to look for immaculate ones for sale witch I have not been able to find so at the moment I`m not to sure on what to do, weather I keep on looking or carbon wrap the old ones I have Im just worried with the carbon wrap the inside might start to look like an autosalon car. I also finally put the HKS pod on but have not made a box yet im not to sure what material to use and how i should actual design it. Last week was the worst week and most expensive week that i have had with this car so far I went to get some new tyres Monday 245/45 R17 for the rear and 235/45 R17 on the front. The next day I went for a drive and destroyed my clutch it would not dis engage so I towed it to my mates house Wednesday morning we pulled the box out and the clutch plate was fused to the pressure plate and the fly wheel was marked relay bad. I went and got a PBR/RPM 5 puck brass button clutch and also got the fly wheel machined as well. Tuesday arvo we started to put it all back in and spent 4 hours trying to get the box back in but it would not go we put it down to the shit plastic clutch alignment tool and gave up for the day, the next day my mate went into work and made me a new tool exactly the same as the input shaft we used that and bingo box slid in. On thursday I went down to flemington to pick up some parts as I got there my clutch pedal fell to the ground. We towed it back to my mates house and found out the little pivot ball that the clutch fork pivots on broke so box out again put a new one in and its sill good and all fixed i think!

While the clutch was getting put in i put that tar shit on my top pipe after reading about it in the DIY section on this forum. encase anyone is interested we used a Jaycar temp sensor and display we put the sensor in the pipe and it showed 8.5 deg hotter with the tar on the pipe!

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
