Hey All, Hope you had a Great Australia day.

Just noticed my front driver side 1/4 panel got hit on Tuesday night at Coles Underground Waterloo Carpark around 10pm...

Going to police station tonight to file a report, hopefully they can secure camera footage of the car leaving the carpark, the carpark company said they don't have footage of where my car was parked.

Anyone been in a similar situation? how was the outcome?

I've narrowed down the other car to the back corner of a Ute simply because of the height/isolation/and sharpness of the dent/scratch.

Also I was only in that coles for just a bit over 20mins, late at night, so not that many ppl would have come in and out of coles at that time.

Finally, Does anyone have an idea how much it might take to pop and respray the front right 1/4 panel of a g35 coupe?

Hope your all having a better week than me..

mate of mine had someone back a towball and left a hole in the bumper of his 911. Cost about $800 to pop, fill the hole and respray entire bumper ...and that's perth prices. I reckon ur's will come out cheaper.

sorry to hear bout the mishap ...bummer when that happens.

I had a similar experience over the weekend someone scraped along my driver side door and rear panel with a trolley...no cameras or witnesses so ended up just buffing the marks off can still see it if looked at closely.

To the guys above, my heart bleeds for you, it truly does. We are enthusiasts and we can't stand the attitude of "it's just a car', it simply doesn't wash with us. (Let alone bogan pricks who hit and run).

Guys, a couple of years ago I bought a cheap little Kia Festiva Hatch, ($2k) this is my 'shopping and shit' car.

It costs 600 buh in reg and 300 buh to insure (fark all to run and service)....do you see my point?

Get one, leave the Line at home on those 'chore' and going to the beach days, and enjoy dint free motoring!

Just a thought.....cheers blokes!

In my experience, the Police won't lift a finger to get the camera footage, and most carparks will refuse to supply it on "Privacy" grounds

Generally if you don't have a witness you're on your own... Really sucks mate, hopefully you aren't out of pocket too much.

i had ppl trying to break into my car once at work. a collegue saw them and alerted me but by the time i ran out, they were spooked and drove off.

police were called and the building owners provided camera footage.

End results....sweet F*** All done by the coppers. Was told that it was "common" and unless something was actually stolen, wouldn't have much of a case.

Feel for you, but I think if ur insurance access doesn't prohibit...then u might as well claim it under ur own policy

Thanks for all the replies guys, makes the burden feel a little lighter..

The worst thing that the cops said to me yesterday is that there is no crime committed for a Hit and Run, all you can do is get them to pay the damage..

I will get "Betty" fixed up with a good clean then I can post up some photos of the before and after..

I am confident that one day I will work out who it was as this is a very isolated incident,

10:00 - 10:25, back tray of a UTE, and in an 50 space, underground Carpark for Coles that has no other grocery competitors for a 4km radius.

Cheers.

Sorry to hear about your incident, Jason. That's the main reason I always try to park mine at the "closest corner" of the entrance where people always come and go.

I hope you catch that bastard too. Good luck.

    • Sounds like you've got an interesting adventure ahead here with local support if you have trouble! My guess is that, unboosted, you will be OK with a small upgrade like -9. What will happen is that once the stock ECU sees more airflow than it expects it will add a heap of fuel and pull a heap of timing to be safe because it can't understand how it could get that much air without there being an issue. You will see clouds of black smoke and it won't pull hard through the midrange and top end. So, overall it will be a bit frustrating but should be OK. If you are still nervous set the base timing back 2o through the CAS, but it will be even more sluggish everywhere. As said above through...this is not my guarantee your engine won't be blown into a million pieces, leaving you looking for very hard to find parts A better idea is get a computer with logging ASAP, wire in a wide band O2 sensor and a use remote tuner. I've done multiple cars this way and while it is not as good as a specific tune on a dyno they can get it 90% right. I'd suggest if you can afford an R33 GTR these days you can afford an ECU and tune. And if you can't afford that you sure won't be able to afford the rebuild if it goes bad in the meantime,.
    • Yeah it would be nice if someone took the time to put that sort of information together, but there are a lot of variations in looms. I think you are making this way hard for yourself if you just want to get it running....sourcing an SR20 with the right wiring will be a billion times easier than matching the RB loom to an S15 chassis. If you do end up going this way, you just need to trace every wire in the loom with a multimeter, 95% of them will go to a location you can confirm at the ECU.....and then post it up for the next person who needs it
    • Just top it up with water, and keep a general idea of how much you added. It is normal for water to be pushed into and pulled out of the reservoir through the cap, and it should not be more than half full or it will be likely to overflow when hot. Any decent mechanic can do a pressure test of the cooling system to confirm if you have a leak. Keep in mind if it is only leaking a little and when hot it may well evaporate before you see it hit the ground
    • I'd ask the shop what they used and use that. Mixing coolants is sometimes OK, sometimes not, and you have know the details of each coolant to know whether it's a good idea or not.
    • Is it alright to top up with just another green coolant?
