The Hyper Carbon Series is the ultimate in clutch technology and was originally designed and produced for the ultimate in motor sports – Formula 1. EXEDY has released its carbon clutch technology to the wider market for both street and track use. Like never before, the Hyper Carbon series system delivers easy and comfortable clutch operation in high horsepower applications as the carbon material is less prone to shudder on engagement making it an ideal clutch system for use in vehicles driven daily.

The use of a damper-type center hub provides a considerable improvement by significantly reducing the gear noise generated in the transmission and differential gears. At the same time, it absorbs shock torque. CARBON-D is a touching clutch system designed for quiet and comfortable driving because it incorporates the driver’s need for meeting-point optimisation (toward the floor) without impeding quick response and the carbon-specific half-engaged feeling.

Vibration-absorbing damper

The conventional damper used in a sports clutch is designed to protect the transmission from shock torque caused by abrupt clutch engagement, it does little to absorb vibration. Efficient absorption of fluctuations in engine speed requires a very flexible spring and proper setting of the hysteresis torque.*1 The Flexibility of the spring, however is likely to run counter to the damper capacity. for this reason, CARBON-D is equipped with a new damper that features two stages – a low-load stage and rapid-acceleration stage – and which is perfectly tuned for each car type. The proper adjustment of both damper rigidity and hysteresis torque prevents gear noise in the low-load stage while the new highly rigid spring ensures high-torque operation in the rapid-acceleration stage. This tuning technology is available only from EXEDY, the specialist in clutch systems.

*(*1) Hysteresis torque can be compared to a shock absorber in the suspension system. It has the essential function of absorbing sound vibration by controlling the tensional restitution of the damper spring.

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
