hks step 2 kit...

i was considering selling it and buying a nitto 3.2- but i just can't bring myself to put a forklift donk in my gtr!

i'll put one in the stag though...

ok, so my plan is to get some 5mm longer allen head bolts, seal the plenum with grey max silicon as the rubber seal is to big, even after being in the freezer. I measured the runner length against std and the OEM manifold is about 5mm longer than the Greddy. I will get a thermal phenolic gasket which will make up the runner length and insulate at the same time. I just hope the plenum fits and the OEM studs are long enough.

Get a hold of a o-ring slice kit:

And make your own... Or use the one you have and cut a little section out of it then re-join it.

In the splice kit is a tool to cut o-ring material perfectly square. Then with two very clean very straight edges you can bond them with fine (good quality) super glue or o-ring glue... I make orings for harder/harsher/higher temp applications than this use all the time and I've had no problems so far.

If you get a phenolic gasket cut in any decent thickness- cut me one too pleeeeeease???

Cheers

Justin

    • Oh right, I didn't realise it was your car. Please do! Makes me feel better about mine. I also have a big scrape on the front left bumper where someone presumably used the wall to guide the car into a parking spot  But somehow all the funds go towards mechanical things and the cosmetics stay forever unfinished... Interesting, I don't think I have seen it before. But after seeing @PranK's rusty roofline on the BMW I'd probably leave it alone. Wouldn't want water to get in there.
    • Thanks mate, thought you might know the answer.
    • Infiniti US are teasing a manual Q50 as a way to refresh a (very old) model. https://torquecafe.com/manual-performance-sedans-arent-dead-yet/ Can't be too technically difficult given the Z has the same motor with a manual gearbox......here's hoping there is a JDM version we can import here, that would save me a world of headaches
    • It's almost certainly a reluctor generating an "AC" waveform. No, ECUs don't generally read those - they're usually set up for PWM square wave 0-5v stuff.
    • Working through possible solutions of converting my mechanical speedo.    Anyone know what type of speedo sensor the factory r34 gtr getrag has ? what the output is ? I assume its not a VSS and more a voltage like earlier speedo sensors ? Can an ECU read it ?
