Hey guy's, my name is Michael. I've just moved back to Toowoomba. Once a week I go and wash my car at carlovers. Also I just moved from living at the bottom of Mt Tamborine. I used to love going for a drive up the mountain and down through the hinterlands with other cars. If you guys can show me a good run, something similar, I'd be much alibied.

Hope to see you guys on the road. My car is easy to spot. Number plate is B FUN.

Hey man, welcome. Tamborine and the GC hinterland is a sweet drive, we really should go for a cruise up there one day. As Nick mentioned we do have a nice windy local route we frequent but nowhere near as good as tambo/mt glorious. Will have to meet up soon.

Possible to just do a hardpark somewhere so I can tag along and catch up + get updates on everybody's car? :P

I would go down that road with you guys but my tyres aren't up to the job. Was pretty scary the last time...even Nick '33' was leaving me behind!

Either that, or you guys can really drive.

Oh and I have been rather busy but I've been itching to catch up with you fellas

Hey guys :) I have worn out one of my rear tires. I'm going to replace both but the Bridgestone I went to wanted to charge me $620 a tire. I'm looking on eBay and I can get a set of Kumho's for $399 plus deliver and such. Just wondering what you guys do.

My rear tire size is 265/35 18 97YXL

What's your problem tommie? Did I say where I would be doing said drifting? I'm 28 years old and know that you would have to be retarted to speed through public streets.

I'm new to Toowoomba and would like to make some friends on here, hopefully maybe yourself as well. But I would ask you would think twice before talking to me like that again, unless I do go and say some stupid shit!

Ask adult/sensible question man and I'm sure we will get along.

Tom is a good guy, just really paranoid about the police, they have given him plenty of trouble over the years so he does have a good reason to be paranoid. But anyway welcome.

Yes a meet up defiantly overdue. Maybe everyone would be keen for a meet up and bit of a drive next weekend?

Who's going?

Test & Tune

HFM Toowoomba.

It's only for sound not power :( but they say there will be show cars and you can have a great laugh at all the shitboxes that pull up with more expensive stereo systems than cars.

When: 30th June 9am - 2pm

Where: 17 Cowen Street Toowoomba

Tomorrow eh. Could be interesting enough for a putt past, dunno if the 5 oh will be around? (run, Tom!)

lol who needs to worry about the 5 oh...... Not me that's for sure.

Maybe we could do a hard park next weekend then. We are well overdue for drinks.

Also there might be a pub run happening on Sunday if the weather is good. Anyone keen?

chris, im thiiiiiiinking about registering my car again soon, i even pulled it out from under the car cover where its been for 8 months and reversed it out of the shed and got it hot!!

if i get it going again im keen to get some pics of ours together if you wanna

but i probably wont be going on cruises and meets and the like with how paranoid i am though..... maybe go to a real good one i dunno yet... too paranoid :S

If you do get it going again, I am most defiantly keen for photos. Mine has been similar to your's this year, it has spent most of the year locked away in the shed on a trickel charger. I mean it has done a tad over 400km's this year so not quite the 100km's you have done in your's over the past couple of year. I am way to paranoid about someone seeing it and trying to steal it ( which would need to be done on the back of a tow truck with all the security work myself and Chris Rogers has done on it) and also one of Toowoomba's many ''fantastic'' drivers running into my car.

The truth is that I actually don't have much to hide at all. The 5-oh would get bored with my car and there're much bigger fish to fry here in woomba.

I simply don't LIKE cops. I don't want to see them. I don't want them harassing me and touching my car. Simply put, I am disgusted by the cops in this country and I try to avoid confrontations with them. The cops around here have done a very great job at ruining one of the very few things that young guys can do in this f*khole of a town.

    • The rain is the best time to push to the edge of the grip limit. Water lubrication reduces the consumption of rubber without reducing the fun. I take pleasure in driving around the outside of numpties in Audis, WRXs, BRZs, etc, because they get all worried in the wet. They warm up faster than the engine oil does.
    • When they're dead cold, and in the wet, they're not very fun. RE003 are alright, they do harden very quickly and turn into literally $50 Pace tyres.
    • Yeah, I thought that Reedy's video was quite good because he compared old and new (as in, well used and quite new) AD09s, with what is generally considered to be the fast Yokohama in this category (ie, sporty road/track tyres) and a tyre that people might be able to use to extend the comparo out into the space of more expensive European tyres, being the Cup 2. No-one would ever agree that the Cup 2 is a poor tyre - many would suggest that it is close to the very top of the category. And, for them all to come out so close to each other, and for the cheaper tyre in the test to do so well against the others, in some cases being even faster, shows that (good, non-linglong) tyres are reaching a plateau in terms of how good they can get, and they're all sitting on that same plateau. Anyway, on the AD08R, AD09, RS4 that I've had on the car in recent years, I've never had a problem in the cold and wet. SA gets down to 0-10°C in winter. Not so often, but it was only 4°C when I got in the car this morning. Once the tyres are warm (ie, after about 2km), you can start to lay into them. I've never aquaplaned or suffered serious off-corner understeer or anything like that in the wet, that I would not have expected to happen with a more normal tyre. I had some RE003s, and they were shit in the dry, shit in the wet, shit everywhere. I would rate the RS4 and AD0x as being more trustworthy in the wet, once the rubber is warm. Bridgestone should be ashamed of the RE003.
    • This is why I gave the disclaimer about how I drive in the wet which I feel is pretty important. I have heard people think RS4's are horrible in the rain, but I have this feeling they must be driving (or attempting to drive) anywhere close to the grip limit. I legitimately drive at the speed limit/below speed the limit 100% of the time in the rain. More than happy to just commute along at 50kmh behind a train of cars in 5th gear etc. I do agree with you with regards to the temp and the 'quality' of the tyre Dose. Most UHP tyres aren't even up to temperature on the road anyway, even when going mad initial D canyon carving. It would be interesting to see a not-up-to-temp UHP tyre compared against a mere... normal...HP tyre at these temperatures. I don't think you're (or me in this case) is actually picking up grip with an RS4/AD09 on the road relative to something like a RE003 because the RS4/AD09 is not up to temp and the RE003 is closer to it's optimal operating window.
    • Either the bearing has been installed backwards OR the gearbox input shaft bearing is loosey goosey.   When in doubt, just put in a Samsonas in.
