Driving fast on bumpy roads with 4 yr old worn tyres.

She took the 1st (relatively sedate) run ok but the 2nd (more aggresive) run she started to understeer more and more with each corner. I chose to maintain my pace and understeered off the road and nearly plunged into a creek. Over corrected to avoid the creek and spun onto a gravel patch (luckily not a tree). The impact of hitting the gravel ripped my front lip off :(

Have done that road numerous times and have always driven within my limits. The one time I choose to be a noob and ignore the feedback the car was giving me, this happens...

I make no excuses for my lack of professional driving skills but I think a true pro would have chosen to not drive the car at that pace in the first place.

Yea she's OK with you guys. Her wish is that we perhaps tone it down a little.

Maybe now she'll let me spend a bit more for happy laps :P

Yes we will definitely tone it down next time. Got a little carried away and was having way too much fun actually driving the car instead of my usual puttering around. Happy Laps or karting in a couple of weeks time. Which ever comes first

Well, I really dont want us to tone down anything.

But as we discussed today at lunch, I might be attending future events in a totally new car (if all goes well) so toning things down will help me learn to drive said new vehicle without too many problems.

GTRs are beastly cars to try and keep up with ;)

One of the guys here has been organising a few runs. Of late, he's been finding that people are getting into more and more strife. Looking further into it, it came down to him going on continuous runs and improving his skills and memorising the tracks. Other drivers were pushing themselves more and more and getting into trouble. Food for thought. :)

Plus next one I should have the skevy on so toning down might be a good thing on its first full run down the mountain....

This particular ls1 can corner :P

Yeh I got your back Nick ;) lol

Danke Tom, ist Ihre Meinung wie Ihre extremen Körpergeruch geschätzt

To bad batteries fall out when it does ;)

That's not the ls1s faults that's the fault of the stupid owner lol

    • Oh, also, forgot to add these photos I believe.
    • Thought i'd update on this. I was able to get in contact with Craig Lieberman and later on Darryl Alison (owner of Kaizo Industries). Darryl was able to help me verify that my car was in fact one of theirs and is helping me find more info on mine !
    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
