After speaking to a few people today, we've decided there will be no video of this cruise at this time.

There isn't enough footage to put something decent together, so we'll use parts of it in a compilation later. Or just the dirt section to placate Glenn :P

Agreed...despite the stagea's reputation, the genuine cruise objectives and mature behaviour, it would be a media frenzy at the moment.

"the OLD peeps"

So I take it the footage from the camera on my car was not able to be salvaged? Hope you didnt go to much trouble trying to put a video together just to have a couple of wankers spoil it for us.

I have only just caught up with whats going on with this whole tunnel race thing, I didnt see the video till this morning but spent all last night at work copping shit from my workmates for "being a hoon" just cause i drive a Nissan. "No" I said, "it wouldn't be a SAU member, we're far more responsible than that!" Can't wait to see what they've got for me when I go to work tonight (especialy the guy with a subaroo outback) Thanks alot guys :spank:

Except that two of the people are SAU members (or is it were by now?).

The camera position in Billy's car was crap, but your footage was alright. Like I said, after a few cruises I might put together a compilation, but need more background/social footage I think, and less driving, which the media wants everyone to believe is always 'anti-social hoon behaviour'.

I hadn't started the video yet, just reviewed the footage. I am tempted to put the dirt road stuff up for shits and giggles though!

An extremely exhilarating video of volvos driving at 20kmph attempting to avoid pot holes :worship:

exactly, and then we can show the media that weare responsible drivers, we don't even get to the speed limit.

it'd prob be twisted tho. "a group of 20 nissan volvos destroying the parklands, here they can be seen in the wilderness searching for some animals to harm with their loud exhausts and spacious interiors!"

LOL oh no wait maybe not lol knowing channel no. 10 they'd probably do that!

Hey ryan if you really want to make that dirt road video interesting i got some footwell action taped also...

Then again maybe not: "a group of 20 nissan volvos destroying the parklands, here they can be seen in the wilderness searching for some animals to harm with their loud exhausts and spacious interiors, and as the video continues, one passenger is trying to film a drag race (probably on a nature strip) but the driver was going that fast that he could only film the footwell. Shortly after the video ends sources say he ran up an embankment to hit bambi and flipped the car onto its roof"

To clear things up fellas, there were certain SAU-SA members in the "tunnel drag race". The SAU-SA committee (including myself as Club Secretary) has discussed disciplinary action, and action has been taken. I am also the founder of this club, and we've put alot of hard work into this over the last 2 years or so, and its quite disappointing that such an act was filmed then hosted where the media could get a hold of it. The media and police scan these forums constantly, so please be aware of that when filming or even just discussing anything.

Our dyno day this saturday has been cancelled thanks to the fallout from this. There has been alot of discussion about it in the SA forums, but you've no idea the damage control and calls with SAPOL we've been doing to sort this out and keep the club's reputation.

It is all very sad indeed....we all make mistakes ! I don't condone their actions but suddenly the whole world (incl import drivers) are full of drivers who have never committed a breach of the Road Traffic Act. You are right though Ruby people only remember us by our mistakes.

+11ty to that, well said.

we've all done silly stuff, some more than others. I can't imagine where i would be if mobile phone cameras were so rampant 15 yrs ago when i was alot younger and alot dumber.

I want to say thank you to those involved in setting this cruise up , and every one else who attended. It was my first stag cruise which i was made to feel welcome buy some cool peeps.

It was made good by a bunch who loved their rides and not them selves.cant wait for the next one. Cheers to every one there!

some pics you might wanna see:

PS. sorry about the delay but i have just come out of two weeks of hell. (sick and teething 18mth twins + sick pregnant wife who at the same time gives her self a hernia, jumping up to a puking child , and her migraine still persists, and im also bed ridden with flu if i was allowed to lie down. .) father hood moments for cherishing. and she wonders why i have the need for spirited Sunday drives at the track.

Hey chopps might not be the best idea to post pics of us parked in disabled parking spots what with the bad publicity nissans have been getting in S.A. media lately jk

I can only imagine the story they could spin up lol

love the pics tho

um errrrrr..........

not that i remember maybe you should check the footage from the camera you had on my window, no wait that footage was mysteriously corrupted hmmmm

    • You won't need to do that if your happy to learn to tune it yourself. You 100% do not need to do that. It is not part of the learning process. It's not like driving on track and 'finding the limit by stepping over the limit'. You should not ever accidently blow up an engine and you should have setup the ECU's engine protection to save you from yourself while you are learning anyway. Plenty of us have tuned their own cars, myself included. We still come here for advice/guidance/new ideas etc.  What have you been doing so far to learn how to tune?
    • Put the ECU's MAP line in your mouth. Blow as hard as you can. You should be able to see about 10 kPa, maybe 15 kPa positive pressure. Suck on it. You should be able to generate a decent vacuum to about the same level also. Note that this is only ~2 psi either way. If the MAP is reading -5 psi all the time, ignition on, engine running or not, driving around or not, then it is severely f**ked. Also, you SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING IT WITHOUT A LOAD REFERENCE. You will break the engine. Badly.
    • Could be correct. Meter might be that far out. Compare against a known 5 ohm 1% resistor.
    • @Murray_Calavera  If I were an expert I wouldn't be in here looking for assistance.  I am extremely computer literate, have above average understanding on how things should be working and how they should tie together.  If I need to go to a professional tuner so be it, but I'd much rather learn and do things myself even if it means looking for some guidance along the way and blowing up a few engines. @GTSBoy  I was hoping it would be as simple as a large vacuum leak somewhere but I'm unable to find anything, all lines seem to be well capped or going where they need to be, and when removed there is vacuum felt on the tube.  It would be odd for the Haltech built in MAP to be faulty, the GTT tune I imported had it enabled from the start, I incorrectly assumed it was reading a signal from the stock MAP, but that doesn't exist.  After running a vacuum hose to the ECU the signal doesn't change more than 0.2 in either direction.   I'll probably upload a video of my settings tomorrow, as it stands I'm able to daily drive, but getting stuttering when giving it gas from idle, so pulling away from lights is a slow process of revving it up and feathering the clutch until its moving, then it will accelerate fine.  It sounds like I need to get to the bottom of the manifold pressure issue, but the ignition timing section is most intimidating to me and will probably let a pro do that part.  Tomorrow I'll try a different vacuum line to T off of, with any luck I selected one that was already bypassed during the DBW swap.  (edit: I went out and did it right now, the line I had chosen did appear to have no vacuum on it, it used to go to the front of the intake, I've now completely blocked that one off at the bracket that holds several vacuum lines by the firewall.  I T'd into the vacuum line that goes from that bracket to the vacuum pump at the front of the car, but no change in the MAP readings).  Using the new vacuum line that has obvious vacuum on the hose, im still only getting readings between -6.0 and -5.2.  I'm wondering why the ECU was detecting -5.3 when nothing was connected to the MAP nipple and ECU MAP selected as the source. @feartherb26  I do have +T in the works but wanted to wait until Spring to start with that swap since this is my good winter AWD vehicle.  When removing the butterfly, did it leave a bunch of holes in the manifold that you needed to plug?  I thought about removing it but assumed it would be a mess.   I notice no difference when capping the vacuum line to it or letting it do its thing.  This whole thing has convinced me to just get a forward facing manifold when the time comes though.
    • Update: tested my spark plugs that are supposed to be 5ohms with a 10% deviation and one gave me a 0 ohms reading and the rest were 3.9ohm<, so one bad and the others on their way out.
