In anywhere between 2-4 weeks I'm going to be a dad (like baby's ever come on time anyway).

I have an R33 GTS25t and was wondering if a baby seat / newborn capsule will fit in it, as they are a 4 seater and I thought the capsules / seats had to go in the middle???

BEFORE anyones asks... yes I do have the child seat restraint bolt things in the rear parcel shelf.

Do I need any special brackets, etc, to mount the seat / capsule on the side rather than the middle?

Are the any laws prohibiting me from putting the seat / capsule on the side?

LASTLY: Has anyone got / had a good capsule / seat that they have had fitted to their skyline and can recommend?

Thanks for all the helps peoples... I'll await the abundance of replíes

Firstly, Congratulations!! You'll never look back from here... Being a father of 3 boys aged 7, 3.5 and 0.75 I can honestly say they bring more joy than most anything else in this world...

There are no laws against putting a baby capsule / seat on the side as opposed to the middle... You may find that the clearance when using a capsule requires you to move the seat quite a way forward though... It may be best to use the passenger side for this reason...

No special brackets should be required if you have all 3 child restraint bolts in the parcel shelf... You may find that the baby seat / capsule leans to one side a little when used on the side though due to the hump in the middle of the rear seat... A folded towel underneath the baby seat evens things out...

I'd recommend that you get a convertable baby seat / capsule... ie one that can be used as a baby capsule in the early months and then "stood up" once the child is old enough to sit up... I use and can recommend the Fisher Price baby seat / capsule... It's lasted over 3.5 years of continuous use for my kids and is still going strong... Well made and very comfortable for the children.

Hope this helps!!

buy a Recaro Baby Seat

Hey that's what i did! To match the GTR interior. Good Luck, & wish you guys the best, we just had out first child a baby boy who's now 9weeks old. Regarding the seat, I didn't have any problems fitting in the GTR, just got one of the RACV guys to fit it. No headaches for $35.

Congrats on the imminent arrival.

I'd echo the comments on getting a combined capsule/seat. If you are going to buy one this is defiantely the go as you'll only need to fork out for the one seat until they get to 2 1/2 years old or so.

We've got one that fits well in the back of the 33. I'll have a look at the name/model tomorrow and post it.

You may find there is a company that comes to the hospital one day per week and fits/rents/sells seats and capsules. That's what happens up here anyway.

Congrats, and I hope all goes well with the birth.

I think one of the main reasons for putting the baby in the middle seat, is that there is much less chance of injury in the event of a side impact.

However, if you do decide to use a seat next to the door, please make sure you use the passenger side..... it makes my blood boil when i see parents lifting the capsule out of the car, and swinging it towards the traffic while they shut the door.

:cuss:

Thanks peoples :D

I thought I'd get laughed at... of well I guess people actually care!

I've only got 2 child anchorages in the back of my R33... am I meant to have 3? Does the 3rd one really matter?

geez, I'd love to spend $600 on a recaro baby seat, but bottom line is, i'd be the most expensive thing in my car and something else to go missing the next time it gets broken into  Plus, I really don't think the kid is going to mind whether or not it is sitting in a plush recaro seat, or a 'yum cha' equivalent (please note: I'm NOT being racist... I first heard that expresion of an asian friend of mine!)

The only thing a recaro seat is going to do that a fisher price seat won't is REALLY hurt my bank account! :)

Thanks for all the input once again!

    • (it is a brand new ported mellings pump) I suspect the lack of pressure is due to the leak. It was *not* that low in other logs of oil pressure in the past. It wasn't that hot either, but not far off.
    • Would a Mellings oil pump be a viable option  From my time with a LS, and talking to tuners and LS specialists, the "weak" OEM oil pump is one of the first things they recommend to swap out if I was going to give the engine any high RPM I opted for a Mellings high volume, with the high pressure springs and I never had a issue with it Cost wise they are not expensive in the scheme of things
    • Just bought a 2002 Stagea 250tRS VR-X Four AERO VQ25DET and spent the last two weekends cleaning and detailing it.. still have to do the wheels and the engine bay but the rest of it came up nice. Imported 2011 to S.A. and I'm the third owner since it was imported. I met the guy who brought it over, he went to Japan and picked out the car, bought it and ordered the wheels. He also gave me a list of stuff he did to the car with receipts. Coil overs (I have the original springs), 3" exhaust from the dump pipe back no cat, Custom dump pipe,(I have the original exhaust), Plenum spacer, 18" custom Work XSA wheels (need restoring, I've made a start..), Shift kit put through the 5 speed tiptronic auto, TV and menus/screens changed to english, Australian DTV tuner installed in rear. I've just had four new discs and new pads as well as all the fluids including the brake fluid replaced. I have all the receipts for the last 15 years and the import papers in a nice folder. Car looks great, goes like hell but fuel economy is not a thing lol.. pics next..
    • I ended up in this rut again lol, and used a shit ton of filler. One thing I can't understand is, even after using a big long block and going in long X pattern strokes, I always end up at bare metal again with no filler, and my repair started at one end of the door and now I've chased my tail to almost the other end of the door. I was thinking of hitting the panel with a hammer where it might be a high spot and making everything low then filling it, I did this on a small section on my other door by mistake and I think I fixed it lol. Is this a bad idea? The other thing is with guidecoat, whether it's the powder or spray, after I sand all the guide coat off, it doesn't reveal anything for me in terms of high spots and low spots and makes it especially hard when it's bare metal (at least in powdered form), am I doing something wrong here, or likely a high spot I keep going over and creating valleys? Lastly, stupid question but, is it possible that after sanding if I only sand over the filler area where I know to be a dent that it's impossible for me to dig into that dent? Unless there are other problems which I missed.
