legality issue regarding defective vehicle

i was issued a canary yesterday since the tread on my rear tires were virtually non existent. but he also gave me a $165 ticket for driving an unroadworthy vehicle.

some of my friends say that you should only get one if you haven't fixed the car.

i'd just like to know if i could protest in any manner and not pay this fine.

That is the normal fine they hand out, and fixing the car aint gonna cancel it!

Yup thats right. I copped one a year or more ago. Fact is you were in the car driving it and it's defective. Sucks hey!

I copped a fine ($165) as well on my second last defect notice......not happy but what can you do.
