Well, I'm a skyline noob. I just got a 95' r33 with a bad turbo. I thought the head gasket was blown till I pulled the intake off and it was full of oil. I traced it back to find out that the turbo was leaking from the compressor side. This is my first turbo car not to mention my first skyline. I want to use the car as a day to day driver. I dont want to sink a bunch of money into it yet. just want to get it back up and running. But as you already know the stock turbo can be a bit hard to find and pricey when you do. I've had several people tell me that if anyone can help me it's you guys. so, I guess my real question is. What is the most easiest/economical way to get this thing back on the road untill I decide which direction i want to go with building it? I will be doing all the work myself. I dont have a lot of resources but I have a lot of exp. wrenching on motors. As long as I dont have to fabricate an exhaust or do any custom tuning that would be best.

Thanks in advance, Any help is very much appriciated!

Welcome.

How much oil???

Was the turbo making any noises?

If you believe it is stuffed then ring around, i don't know what state you live in but the are specialized wreckers. Have you tried calling any of the wreckers listed for your particular state?

Yeah, thats the thing. I live in Germany, not many skylines around here, and even fewer wrecked ones. I'm kinda stuck with buying parts online. Which is even mlore difficult since I wont have internet at my house till the end of next week. I have to go to a cafe to get internet for now, so I have a limited amount of time to search.

How much oil??? A lot! it was puddled up in the intake tube and the compressor side of the turbo. It was even puddled up clear up by the throttle body. It smoked very badly the entire time the motor was running. I didn't notice any noises but my hearing is very poor so it may have been making noise idk. before I bought it, I was trying to help the previous owner figure out what was going on. I ran it up to full throttle on a short drive (.5-1km) and it blew the oil dipstick out of its hole and emptied the contents of the oil pan under the hood. I think it must have been pushing the boost back through the drain line of the turbo and into the pan to blow the dipstick out. any other ideas?

probably a common question but do you have any idea what is needed to fit a vg30 turbo to the rb25? Is it worth doing for a quick fix?

Probably best to start a thread in general maintenance or force induction section for this one as i have no idea about vg30's.

Found this post although i am not sure if it helps...

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
