Hey;

I'm after a new or reconditioned alternator I'm not really sure how to go about it?

My biggest problem is since we're on imports, when I go to mechanic and throw part numbers around; Nobody has any 32/33/34 skyline parts. I

don't know many places that specialise in em. Perhaps someone can help me with that?

I figure Nissan would happily get me a new one right? Except charge me enough to build an extension on their showroom; i can't really do that.

Another option is to have my alternator reconditioned; except people i have asked said it's a waste of time; and they probably wouldn't

have the parts to recondition it with anyway.

Help!

Cheapest option is a VL alternator (I think it's either 70amp or 90amp I'm not sure), I've been told they bolt straight onto skylines (this was a R32 GTR that one went on). I believe the Hitachi brand skyline alternators (90amp from memory) can't be reconditioned (bushes swapped out), but the VL one can be.

I have more info now; I'll share.

The part number for an R34 (and possibly some other models such as a stag or a 33) is:

23100-0v017

I went to Bursons parts first and quoted this number and they basically said; can't do it. It's a nissan only part. I asked about it being interchangeable to a Holden VL alternator and of course; no idea.

I did go to Nissan on the off chance; the guy looked pretty ran off his feet lol. He confirmed my part number and he actually laughed when he saw the price. He said

"its over a thousand bucks mate. Good luck"

f**k that!!!

What do i do?!
