Big strong ones...

I've seen people with those "aircraft quality" t-bolt hose clamps, that look like they'll clamp your balls until they fall off. They're the ones I want.

Anyone know of somewhere in Sydney that sells them?

Blackwoods sell them in SS and mild steel (coated)

Enzed sell them in mild.

Personally I dont like the clamps I have got from above stores.

First off, they have a very small tolerance on size so you have to be accurate when buying. Not a huge problem but it means you have to bring in a sample of whatever you are planning on clamping to be sure you get it right.

I also dont like the way in which they clamp up. They tend to go egg shaped and bunch the hose up a bit when you do them up and it doesnt look to me like a nice solid, airtight connection.

They are also expensive although if you can get Blackwoods trade/account rates they are about half of regular retail prices. ie $10 ea vs $20 ea.

I would like to give the clamps shown at GCG's web site a go. They are slightly different in their design and I think they may work better.

Last time I was @ Pirtek in the gong they had some BITCHIN' hose clamps. Had the outside edges trailing up so they don't cut into the hose you're clamping and the part of the clamp that actually touched the hose was inside the main ring of the clamp. Sort of a clamp withini a clamp.

If you want the toughest ones available, I would suggest going to a diesel mechanic / diesel parts supplier.

Thanks heaps for the replies guys...

I'm headed to Pirtek in Mascot (literally in Sydney Airport), so I'm hoping they have hose clamps that will suit me...

If not, I'll try the other options listed above... Those ones pictured from GCG don't look strong enough... I'm talking about the REAL big mother bitches, like an inch-wide metal band and big-ass bolt going through it :P :P

Merli, I have the ones you are talking about, and have no probs with the hose bunching. the only thing is you definately have to buy the right size, and the tolerance is a bit low - not much room to move.

I have seen some similar to the ones browny posted up, but they have heaps of washers between the nut on the bolt and the clamp - I have these too. they are better for tolerance, in that you can fit them to a wider range of hose sizes, and 'aparently' you can actually torque them down until you distort the pipe.

I do prefer the wider clamps myself, they also have a rolled edge so you know they wont cut into the silicone hoses.

cost here in SA from around $5-8 each ($8 being for the ones on my 3" pipework), that was from a speed shop, from an exhaust shop they were about $5 dearer each.

this is the best image I have at the moment, I could probably photoshop another when I get home (at work at the moment:)) - let me know?

The clamps on the BOV return are the heavy ones, I also run them from the turbo to the intercooler - the ones on the TB are the other type, with washers on the bolt. They work well too, but are thinner and dont have rolled edges.

The TB ones are available through autobarn (here in SA anyways) - they were fitted when I upgraded my IC to TB pipe, and I didnt have any of the heavier clamps on hand. Both seem to be handling 22+psi no probs.

THOSE ARE THE ONES I WANT!!!!

The ones on your BOV return pipe!!!

I'm off to Pirtek now, and if they don't have them, would it be possible for you to order me a bunch if I gave you the measurements of my silicone hosing? blowjob.gif

Should be able to work something out.

EDIT: you need to make sure the measurement is for the total diameter, including the silicone hose - they dont have a huge range of adjustment, about 5mm or so.

I will check with the local speed shop, as I am pretty sure he said he ordered them from east, see what I can find out for you.

More news, (one phone call later - big ups to Outlaw speed shop here in adeliade for all their help)

Outlaws said they should have them (they looked them up, as they are one of their suppliers), if not, ask if they know another speed shop in sydney

another name they suggested is Sydney Speed Shop.

If you have no luck with them, give me the dimensions and numbers of clamps you need, and I can go in and see outlaw speed shop here in adelaide and sort something this end.

I have the same clamps as 51jay

These pics show why I don't like them much.

clamp1.jpg

As you tighten them up they tend to form a D shape

The "bunching" I was referring to

and the lack of contact around the bolt area

I have a few 86-91mm that I want to get rid of.

    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
