A while ago, I saw an orbital polisher on special for $30 at Autobarn, so I thought meh, might get it and see how good it is.

After being in the box for a few months, I put it to use tonight.

I pulled my front bar off today for a touch up, so I thought I might as well take out my headlights for a clean.

Sanded it with 1200 & 2000 grit then finished off with a hand polish. After hand polishing it, it was still a tad murky. So I gave the polisher a go, and after a few mins.. The headlights look brand spanking new again! :D

But I have a question, what do I do with the buffer pad? Do I just wash it and dry it?

Here's some pics:

(Top headlight is hand polished and bottom is machine polished)

when i worked in mitsubishi in pait rectification they were just put through a washing machine, at home i just wash in the laundry tub with water.

Cheers, will clean it tonight :)

Also, any tips on polishing my car with that thing? lol

First we used a rotary buff to polish with, then the orbital with an egg crate type pad to get rid of marring (the swirly bit you see after polishing) sort of like what you see here http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/6x6-High-Gross-PolishingPad-Buffer-Pad-Car-Polisher-/180681082040?pt=AU_Power_Tools&hash=item2a116e84b8 but its for velcro backed polishers. Just make sure the polish doesnt get too dry and keep the pad clean.

I bought black waffle pads from that seller; they're great! Bit slow on delivery tho'

This is what I did with them yesterday:

    • Hi. Yeah thanks. Car is already at tuners and it staying there to resolve "many" issues they do not like. So it is in a good hands. Getting a good tune on that Nistune ECU too so the car would be good. Just needs a little tune up and love.
    • Probably gonna remove manifold and turbo. I’m not sure if I can get M12 x 1.5 air tight. Could use high temp Loctite 246 or something similar, but I don’t know. Maybe it’s just best to remove everything again and weld an 1/8NPT on there instead.
    • Yeah, saw the ratios, not impressed. Would like the punch I have in the first gears now. With those ratios it won't be the same.  Also want the h pattern gearing, or at least a quiet gear set that don't need to come apart for service each year. Looks like the only "reasonable" way Is a 8hp70 transmission, but where is the fun in that🤷‍♂️
    • Hey mate, really appreciate the help. Have been looking pretty extensively myself and was certain they were retro fitted, but then ended up finding a 4 door with what looks like the same side skirts or at least the closest I’ve seen. • Isn't there a PAR engineering gearset that has closer to stock ratios? And they claim they'll do whatever ratios you want.
