I just recently installed a exhaust i imported from the USA. A little more on the expensive but oh my god so worth it.

I got the Advanced Resonate Tuning Pipes installed aswell as the Shockwave)) TDX2.

A youtube example of this combo can be found here:

(Black Car, Skip to 1:30) - Not my car btw

The exhaust combo has 0 drone from what i can hear, and when you put your foot down - people will know. Its possibly one of the loudest exhausts i've heard on a street car, and yet so quiet when you want it to be.

Ahhh forgot about the Motordyne. What an awesome sound. Note to OP, there is absolutely no beating the sound and possibly performance (albeit minimal) of a true dual system. The Y pipe single systems just can't compare.

Aftermarket Sedan Exhaust Compilation

Below is a compliation of exhaust setups. Both aftermarket, modded OEM and full custom.

Really?

I'm not sure if its different on the V compared to the Z, but in a NA application the Y pipe systems are better. The scavenging in the low end from combining the two streams gives a noticable gain over a true dual, but the difference in the top end from what I've seen has been in the 2-3rwkW region (which is measurement error).

On the butt dyno I had a mate who went from a Y pipe to a true dual, and he noticed a big drop in tractability with nothing in the top end. He eventually went and had a custom crossover made.

My favourite sound so far has been the HiTech catback on my Z. No rasp, just a nice deep note with an angry edge. Compared to my ultra-raspy current setup (Top Speed Extractors, Berk cats, Buddy Club exhaust) it sounds a lot deeper.

quote me correctly and the context makes more sense:

Notice I refered to the performance as a "possible" gain. The last quote is therefore stating the single systems can't compare for sound as referenced first in the statement. It may have been clearer if I'd put the bracket before "possibly".

So I stand by my post, The dual systems I refered to above to me sound better (deeper) than a single system.

It would be worth noting that the true dual systems from Fast Intentions, Motordyne and Stillen have a crossover section, as Scathing mentioned, which technically does not make them true dual like the HKS, Injen & Invidia. The manufactureres still call then True dual tho

I DIY as I have a mate who has a workshop and hoist. If you don't want to DIY, Search for Kermit on these forums. He has a workshop in Welshpool and he specialises in stainless and custom fab.

Fair enough. I thought you were saying that the true duals will give a performance gain, even if it is minimal. In my experience its pretty much guaranteed to give a gain that's better than stock, not as good as a Y-pipe system. Performance-wise a Y-pipe setup is a clear winner.

I haven't heard too many true dual systems aside from the APS, which I thought was quite similar to the Nismo exhaust. But exhaust sound is a very personal choice.

I Highly Recommend you don't get the Headers from USA or any other Left hand drive country. As they made for Left hand drive (steering rack interference), but you are more than welcome to try.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
