Hi, my nissan r34 skyline gtt running stock boost, now when it is in low boost driving normally it sounds like a turbo should, i dont pretend to know much about turbo charged engines, but obviously as the turbine spins faster at higher revs it will make a different noise as to low boost. But for some reason my turbo is making a screaming noise which im not sure if it is normal or not as i have only had the car for a few weeks. any help would be appreciated as mechanics want to charge me $110 for a dyno. I havent had any other problems, no knocking on idle or oil leaks etc just the turbo noise, It probably is normal.

^ my car screams, is don is good. Get your post count up asap tho - we need more for sale threads to sabotage.

To OP: The problem is probably something to do with a gasket as mentioned, or something with a cooler pipe somewhere. It honestly wouldnt be an easy job for a turbo-newby to find and fix it.

Check all your pipes to see if theres anything loose or any hoses with cuts in them ETC. Otherwise you may want to see a mechanic as its likely to be coming from the turbo's exhaust gasket. I have had this happen myself more than once and it was the gasket every time.

Turbo/manifold nuts probably got loose - it happens from time to time. If that's the case, tightening them will fix the problem, but check it asap, or the gasket will be ruined by hot gasses and you'll have to take off the turbo.

Good thing is that it's not too hard to check/fix it yourself though - remove turbo heat shield and you'll see top two nuts right away. Bottom two are a bit more tricky to get to.
