Hello everyone,

just a pondering question, is it possible to make 32r running 4wd all the time without using the current electronic control system. In other word I want to cancel all sensors and ecu and make it run awd permanently without headache .

Is it possible to cancel actuator from gear box and weld nut to press on clutches or keep then in engaged position all the time.

The pump unit isn't deisgned for continuous duty, but you mentioned getting rid of all that.

The transfer case clutch pack setup, if locked permanently would either:

suffer from 'wind up', if used on tarmac, as there can be slight differences in driveline rotation front to rear, and that will break stuff.

you will have mad understeer due to the constant locked 4wd mode!!!

The only way to do it properly would be to change the transfer case to a center diff arrangement as used in the subaru's and evo lancers....

Yes you can do it, no it's not a wise move. Not only will you reduce the hp driven to the wheels to give you acceleration, but you will destroy the transfer case from binding the clutchpacks too much

This + the BSM GTR tore the front diff off the sump running 50-50 4wd

they did find they were quicker on the track though (IIRC)

Locking the transfer is no drama, BSM did it with a solid transfer. I also did a similar thing with a machined shaft.

However both cars I know ended up with front diffs sprawled all over the circuit.

The speed gains were negligible. We found the only gain was in top speeds reached on the straights as exit acceleration was slightly faster. Entry and mid corner speed was actually slightly slower.
