Knightmayre
Took it to The Dent Shed as they're just up the road from me in Airport West. (1800 042 450) Much nicer people than the place CommInsure made us take her car. JZP
Just got my 4-month old car (Jeep Grand Cherokee) back from Dents and Dings in Campbellfield (RACV endorsed mob). I'm really surprised how well the car came up. I couldn't see any evidence of hail damage, except the trim around the top of the door, which they have on back order for about 8 weeks. They repaired every panel with 20+ dents on each (including the roof which had heaps more) within one week. The repair cost wasn't even $5k (which the insurance company covers)!! Super impressed & would go back any day. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/386540-hail-damage/page/4/#findComment-6256356 Share on other sites
IOWNU
As if you let them repair your brand new car? I would have pushed for them to write it off and got a brand new replacement with no kms on the clock. (At least that is the policy with AAMI, not sure about RACV). KURAUN
they wont write off a car that has less than $5k worth of damage to a purchase price of roughly $35k, even market valve its cheaper for them to repair it and that's what insurance companies try to do save money Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/386540-hail-damage/page/4/#findComment-6261430 Share on other sites

Yep, RACV have a New car replacement clause for cars that are written off within 12 months. Having seen how good the repairs are, it's hard to argue for a replacement car. In the olden days, sure the car would have been written off, but with the techniques they use today that are so economical (no bog, no paint) - it's really at the insurers discretion whether they write off the car. I'm sure it would be a different game if the car was totalled in an accident. I'm still astounded that they can fix every panel for so little.
