The main point is, for Danial (Thread starter) to upgrade the car to 260-280 the clutch will need to be decent and the cost of the 34GTT clutch is significantly higher than that of the 33GTST

33 clutches are quite cheap, it seems EVERYTHING you try to do on a 34 costs more, most parts are slightly different yet cost more :domokun:

But the mods are well worth it as the 34 is an excellent choice to modify as they are an awesome car!

And i am not biased in any way

i also have a pull type.... and he is right they are more expensive then a 33 clutch and to hold 280 the stock one wont and will never hack it you will have to upgrade it to a decent one

From what Ive read, its not uncommon and not too hard to convert your R34 to a push type clutch like the R33.

Call up K B Clutch Engineering. Speak with him, ask him about the carbotic button clutch and see how much he can do it for a pull type system.

There are clutches for R33's that cost in excess of 1k, even 2k. It seems everyone buys these full monty clutches which cost >1k. What for? They sound like they are heavy on the pedal and really a waste of money. This guy who done my clutch knows his stuff, doesn't try to rip you off by telling you the crap people say oh you drive this, oh you drive that, oh its a race car, oh its got this. All this BS to make it sound more expensive than it should be.

You go to any performance shop and ask them to make you an intake pipe, $250+. Go to an exhaust shop, $80. Go to a welder, $50.

^^^ Ryan i assume you will buy an Excedy because its purple?? :P

.... ha ha lol mabe :whistling: i think i am going to save for the twin billet and just be done with it so i dont fry something then be :domokun:

Jem berry does the full montys and they are rated for a lot more power, are carbonic and have a larger perssure plate and 2000ft pounds of clamp pressure and he balances it to the flywheel, pedal feel is close to stock, my mate has a excedy hyper single he rebuilt to hand 450kw with a solid center, 2400ft pounds of camp load and belive it or not feels so light we bleed it 3 times thinking it wasnt bleed because it was so light!

and yes you can convet from pull type to push type very cheaply as well if you so disire

Get a little light through the boot of the clutch fork, you should be able to see the pressure plate, you will know if its stock or not.

My pressure plate is rated for about 2800 or 3000ft pound and feels close to stock, not stock though. I just don't understand why the jim berry clutch cost so much more than what I bought. He calculated that this clutch should hold up to 650nm - 700nm of torque.

Don't fix what ain't broke. Replace it when you need to could hold for years to come never no. Just buy a Garret or a kando, nistune, injectors and dump/ front pipe get it fitted happy days

I just did the bare essentials.

Aeromotive 340 Fuel Pump (rewired)

FMIC

Z32

525cc Inj

GT2535

full exhaust

and a few small items.

After I did all this I ended up buying a Nismo coppermix twin soon after. Depending how much torque your putting out will depend on your clutch life. Just determine what turbine is going to suit you and work around that. IMO don't go over board if you don't need it. And don't buy alot of "nice to have stuff"

see my awesome spelling of Jim Matt lol.....:whistling: its Jim berry at Race clutch and yes he can rebuild a cltuch alot cheaper depending on what you want, the full monty is just his top of the range rebuild

Jim Berry fitted by JEM? :stupid:

Ive never had my gearbox out Ive always assumed it was the stock clutch, and its holding 289rwkw...

Ive had the car since 67000Ks....

Umm wow!!! Very unlikely that is stock then i would imagine.........

    • Forgot to include this but this is the mid section of my steering rack that looks like it has a thread/can be turned with that notch mentioned in the post:
    • Hey everyone, Wanted to pick some brains about this issue I'm having with rebuilding my 33 rack (PN is 49001-19U05). All of the tutorials/videos I've seen online are either R34 or S Chassis racks which seem to be pretty straightforward to disassemble but this process doesnt carry over to my rack. Few of the key differences that I've noted The pinion shaft on the other racks bolt on with 3 torx bolts: Whereas my rack bolts on with 2 allen head bolts: These changes are pretty inconsequential but the main difference is how you pull the actual rack out of the housing. The other skyline/s chassis racks can be taken out by tapping the rack out of the body with a socket and it just slides right out. I'm unable to do that with my rack because there's a hard stop at the end that doesn't let the seal/shaft be tapped out. Can also see a difference in the other end of the rack where mine has a notch that looks like you're able to use a big wrench to unthread 2 halves of the rack whereas the other racks are just kinda set in with a punch. My rack: Other racks: TLDR; Wanted to know if anyone has rebuilt this specific model of steering rack for the R33 and if there were any steps to getting it done easier or if I should just give this to a professional to get done. Sorry if this post is a bit messy, first one I've done.
    • I would just put EBC back on the "I would not use their stuff" pile and move on.
    • Can I suggest you try EBC directly again and link them to as many competitor catalogues as you can to show their listing is incorrect, eg https://dba.com.au/product/front-4000-series-hd-brake-rotor-dba42304/ If you have access to an R33 GTST VIN and your VIN, you could also use a Nissan Parts lookup like Amayama to show them the part number is different between 33 GTST and 34 GTT which may get their attention
    • So i got reply from EBC and they just this site where you can clearly see those 296mm fronts on R34 GTT. I send them photos and "quotes" that 296mm are not for 34 GTT and they are too small. But it will be very hard to return them cuz nobody here knows 100% and they just copy those EBC catalogue :-D https://ebcbrakesdirect.com/automotive/nissan/skyline-r34
