Thanks for organising the cruise. I've been to GOR 09 and 10 before. Today had a different feel to it. Also Hamish and JamesK weren't there, although lots of new faces.

The pace felt a bit slower today, for better or worse. I remember having to boot it and late brake to keep up with the frontrunners last time.

Bit frustrating as usual with the inconsiderate tourists blocking us. That Camry on the way back was insanely slow, doing like 20 km/h under the limit sometimes and refusing to pull over.

I think they dropped the speed limit on SCR out from Apollo Bay from 100 to 80, with the "New Limit" sign. No fun :(

Also too many cops - more than I have seen at GOR before. 4WD patrol car in Anglesea, cop bike near Apollo Bay, unmarked cop car on M1 back to Melbourne pulling over the trio of sportsbikers.

Was there a reason we didn't stop at Anglesea like usual? I was busting to go take a leak :P I assume because we were running late.

In the past, we also met up at BP Little River Melb-bound on the way back. I only saw one other skyline there. After talking to him, I'm not sure if we all took the same route back? There seemed to be a random left turn out of no-where off the main highway onto a single lane D-road.

And I think Al and I were the only ones using our CBs. The previous GORs we were in, there were heaps of people with CBs and lively chatter.

Good to see Ash come out for GOR though. The blue R34 GT with the P plate tailing me on the way back.... was worried you might rear end me if I braked too suddenly. If there was one car that I didn't think would be able to keep up, it would've been a P-plater in a N/A car, but I doubt your car's standard :P Good work.

All in all, good weather and company. See you all at the next cruise!

Was good seeing a r34 gtr coming to the gor cruise this year, looked real clean and original, dont see many of them around these days.

i was following behind you on the way back, car looked real nice from behind, made lots of poppings and flames too. believe me, if anything, i would rather swerve off the cliff than rear ending a r34 gtr :P . but as alvin stated, i have turbo brakes(being a gtv), so all sweet :D

experienced some real nice road today, i would've enjoyed it much more if the 'sensible' driver of the camry didnt decide to do contant 40 in a 80 zone(some people just need to undersand that they are not the only road user in the world).

and yea, your right about my car, it aint a standrd 25gt, has a few mods done it to make it a better car overall :D (but the ebc beeing f**king up lately, so yeh, didnt go as good as it use to, even had trouble keeping up with alvins std r34 in a straight line :( )

Great day...

I got a little sun kissed... ...But that's usually a given on these things...

I didn't mind the slower driving on the way down... ...I'm usually at the back because I'm a slower car than most of you guys... ...But on the way back there were heaps of options for slower cars to turn out but they didn't...

The modern GOR and Otways is a real tourist drive. Lots of foreign tourists as well, hard to expect them to understand what a pull out is.

Simon and I where watching what we think was finding nemo for a while with a wagon in front of us having a dvd screen.

Thanks guys, this was a great run except for my car filling cyliners will fuel and cutting out at mt. morrioc. Thanks Henry I got home at 1.45am after I changed 4 out of 6 spark plugs I could get to with limited tools. Only got me 15kms down the prinny before I couldnt accelerate any further. Then I got a tow home for $225. ECU need a retune or it wouldnt be throwing so much fuel in the engine, but car has been almost stagnant for the last year while getting drivetrain, suspension & brake upgrades. Most of the time waiting for a good r34t box. I've had limited driving in the 'hybrid whatever you want to call it R31 chassis', but it felt natural driving around the GOR until my cylinders flooded (got a little ass wiggly but driving a almost new car (to me) everytime I drive it is a good learning curve. Hopefully I can get a cheap retune from 'Paul' from chasers west melb. who tuned it last. After he tuned it last, it was a f**k*n beast. This was a great cruise for the R31 for as long as I could keep up. Look forward to many other events, since the car is almost finished besides dohc etc, I will be able to attend more events, makes it worth it for all the membership I've paid and for whatever reason my car has not been able to run. So hopefullly I can attend most events from now on. Thanks for listening to my rant, whoever has got this far. You're a great bunch of people and hope to attend more efents with you guy's (no offense to the ladies) shortly. Cheers.

Yeah like me laith, when I was tryin but couldnt get her past 104/105. Sorry if I held anyone up on the way home since I couldn't keep up.

=(

hope the beast lives.

No worries Alvin, she only gets stronger. Booked back in for retune. For some reason ecu gone haywire throwing fuel in motor at full ball and spark plugs not able to burn mix, flooding cylinders, fouling plugs etc. Wierd since tuned by Paul at Chasers, to be slightly lean (for my protection, stock motor) Damn no AFM, probably would be ok with one. Done bugger all driving between ecu mapping and clutch going the next day to getting r34 box, clutch, tailshaft, brakes n suspension done. Like I said in the thread earlier I 'borrowed' the car back from my mech for the day. Since almost no driving, blocking of filters, new sensors etc cant work out for the life of me why the ecu wants to run the injectors full throttle. Anyways car almost finished for this stage so will reliable and attending more events, more often :)

02 sensor??

mine did that when it died

I dont think so. O2 sensor died a while back. Wasn't drivable off boost, semi drivable a lot a spluttering all the time. She drives fine on and off boost until the cylinders start to flood and foul the plugs and you can hear the mixture not igniting. You can keep driving *grits teeth* until you just cant accelerate due to fuel not being able to ignite in cylinders. Wait a few hours, fuel evaporates and you can drive until it happens again. Maybe it's starting to go?

To the candy-red r33 gts with the number plate EXIBIT. What bodyshop did your respray?! its amazing!!! i looked over the whole car in every little nook and cranny and didn't find one imperfection!

    • Harness is for a s1 Rb25det, and it is engine and lower harness.  the old harness had broken off plugs and was in very rough condition/exposed wires and splices etc. it is not able to be put back on the car, I could visually inspect to see if they had rewired any pins on the ecu plug. The fuel pump definitly isn’t turning off it’s an external pump and very loud you can hear it. Will look at the other harness tonight, am also going to pull the fuel rail and watch the injectors spray, will update here with what I find. Pretty sure at this point it has to be something to do with injectors because car will fire up on starting fluid and cas is clicking the Injectors. Fuel pressure is steady 43psi
    • Check the injectors flow evenly, and are actually flowing what you and the ECU think they should be flowing. If it's starting up on starter fluid, you have a fuel issue. Is it possible under cranking your fuel pump is turning off?   The harness you replaced, is that the whole engine harness? Do yourself a test, and drop the old harness on and plug it into the Z32 ECU. It's possible they've wired things different. From memory S1 to S2 is different in RB25 and you may have a wrong loom
    • I haven’t pulled the injectors to watch them spray yet but they are clicking from the cas and all of the spark plugs are wet with fuel. I’ve thought the cylinders were being flooded from the beginning and was hoping fuel pressure would fix it. Tonight I am going to pull the rail and watch the injectors spray. Don’t know how to test/diagnose if the plugs are firing in correct sequence but that should be a timing thing and as far as timing goes my car still has the half moon for the cas can only install it 1 way. And my mechanical timing is 100% correct I posted photos above. Confirmed with the balancer on and off.
    • I checked spark on all cylinders and they all visually have spark with the plug pulled and grounded, but plug 1 is the only one that fouled. This was a running swap that blew up and was rebuilt by a machine shop, put a new wiring specialties harness and did all gaskets, studs, and bolts while it was out.  compression is 135-150 across all cylinders. Aside from that from my understanding with the z32 ecu and maf the car should start regardless. The wiring for TPS and the dual 02 sensor/ dual knock sensor stuff shouldn’t actually stop the car from starting or even running well, (just slightly rich)  they just give fault codes. Car supposedly is supposed to start as long as you have z32 afm and ecu with the nistune base map and that’s info coming from a well known and trusted tuner who does a lot with SR/RB (Rsenthalpy). After more trouble shooting today where I’m at right now is that the cas is sending signal to the injectors they click while spinning the rotor, Fuel pressure is now set at 43psi, all cylinders have good compression and all of the plugs looked great (just wet with fuel) except for cylinder 1 which was very black (cylinder 1 has 150psi compression). all of the coils generate spark if pulled out and grounded out on the head. On the fuel pump car just pops into the exhaust. On starting fluid car will fire off. Hard to tell if all cylinders are firing off but definitley a couple. sounds like all of them but it’s only for 3-5 seconds hard to tell.
