guys,my hicas indicator(yellow light?) is perpetually on when i'm driving. i thought it's only sposed to kick in at certain instances. is there something wrong? if so, does it require urgent fixing?

also, this is out of curiousity. i saw a r33 gtst skyline displaying a p plate getting pulled over recently - are p platers barred from driving cars like the skyline?

You should get it fixed soon, as the rear wheel alignment might be out slighty due to the hicas not working properly. If thats the case then you could be scrubbing your rear tyres. My hicas light came on during a trip to melbourn, by the time I got there from canberra both my rear tyres (19 , 275's) were f*cked... Ended up costing me $1400 to replace :-{

Is your car a r32 or r33, r34. If its a r32 then like sewid said, its probably power steering fluid. Otherwise its a electronic problem as the R33 has an electronic hicas system, Ie there are no hydrolics involved.

Pedars seem to know a little about these, do a search on hicas error codes and a like, it might yeld some results...

Sorry I could not be more help, you might just need a wheel alignment or one of the wires may have come loose if you have a r33...

you can always reset your hicas by plugging out the wires from the box and then turning the car on... then turn the car off and plug them back in and turn the car on and see if it helps.

I'm not a mechanic so I don't guarantee success and cannot be blamed if something goes wrong so do it at your own risk. Oh and like the boys said check the power steering fluid and re-fill if needed. Good luck.

wasn't alluding to that. my mechanic is a great guy but when i first said hicas he went : "Harh??" =)

i took a drive earlier today. the weirdest thing is that the hicas light did not come on once. did it just fix itself or should i still get it checked?

that dosnt mean they are are bad mechanic but i'd think about changing to someone who knows a bit more about skylines.

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
