Kolossus
I'm probably going to be looking into bags for my sedan around next year as its impractical to have a car lowered at all where I live and I plan on keeping her for a long time and putting a bit of work into hense the decision Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/396365-how-often-do-you-guys-scrape/page/2/#findComment-6297693 Share on other sites
Howaitonaito
im factory ride height with after market 18x8f and 18x9r with 235/40 R18s all round (bit of stretch on the rear and none on the front) i scrape front if i take it nose on, if i angle i dont. with a full car load i scrape aswell, but most times im good. Marshan
Because??? Many people have done this and recommend it.. lowers by about 25mm without sacrificing too much ride quality. I can't imagine lower mine any further. Don't know what ride height i'm on but it's stock and i'm scraping everyday i drive. You are approx 20-30mm lower than factory with those tire profiles. sonicii
Actually only about 11-12mm but still lower than stock. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/396365-how-often-do-you-guys-scrape/page/2/#findComment-6299024 Share on other sites
Kolossus
yea he isnt 30mm, your legally (and most of the time physically) only meant to go up or down 15mm unless you wanna get your speedo fixed to match up, Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/396365-how-often-do-you-guys-scrape/page/2/#findComment-6299085 Share on other sites
Deep Dish V35
mine has always scraped. back when i had standard shocks and springs with 18x8 +35 factory premium alloys and 235-40-18 tyres.... the standard springs had so much travel that the under engine plastic panel would drag along the ground AFTER bumps in the road... the worst suspension ive ever driven on. now with 2003 model 350z shocks and springs with 20x8.5 +35 235-35-20 up front and 20x10 +42 265-30-20 stretched in the back..... i rarely scrape under the car, but always drag the custom front lip (its lower than parking bay concrete blocks.... an upright iphone barely fits ) and the rear muffler drags occasionally when reversing over driverway gutters. have only slammed the chassis rails once. and even with 250kg of fat people in the back seat, the rear only dropped an inch fyi: the 350z shocks and springs originally felt way too stiff for my liking... but ive grown used to them and am quite happy with the ride. And theyre not stupid low either. Nightcrawlers is definitely lower than a slugs scrotum. sonicii
Tyre sidewall height of a 235/45 is 105.75mm. The sidewall height of a 235/40 is 94mm. Overall tyre diameter changes by 23.5mm but radius only differs by 11.75mm (axel to tyre edge) which is the amount the axel will be closer to the road.
