As title states, I'm going to be filling up my rb20 manual box from the selector hole as I can't remove the filler hole on the side of the box as I only got a 17MM spanner which only works with the open end side. I don't have any 4 sided socket that fits over that bolt.

I'm using a BFH with the spanner aswell.. Won't budge.. I have a breaker bar I can use but I don't have any socket that fits over the bolt..

Anyone know how much oil I should put in ? I can't take the filler plug off so I might aswell just drain it and measure how much im putting in from the top.

cheers

Use vice grips or something to get that off.

I replaced that one with the same type of plug as the drain, so I can crack it with a 1/2" drive ratchet.

What I do is take the filler off, fill from the shifter until oil is JUST starting to overflow out of the filler, then chuck the filler plug back on.

From memory it's about 2.2 litres.

Where did you buy the same type plug from ?? I want to replace both the plugs on them as they are chewed from the previous owner!

    • No. Only for a standard ECU with/without Nistune. Standalone has no need for it. That's like the 3rd time I've said so.   And as to that sensor linked - yes, it does look like it would be the right one. I've never bothered to see how available they were - just assumed that they'd be hard to find. I think I'd be planning to go Link ECU rather than buy sensors I don't actually want to make Nistune work, if I did not already have Nistune. As you do not already have Nistune, you should realy consider your options.
    • If there's enough meat in the housing where you want to put the M12 adapter, then do it, but be aware that if/when you f**k that up you'll probably be repairing it before doing anything else. I'd just drill it out and tap ina 1/4" thread. No need for rocket surgery when the next most obvious thing will do. You could throw a 1/4 x 1/8 bush in there and use the same fitting you intended to use.
    • Is the only issue that the oil catch can is getting filled on hard runs? I'd be thinking more about oil control issues rather then the head lifting, especially as you aren't seeing spiking in the coolant pressure.  Do you need restrictors in the head, or better drains from the head? Does the sump need venting to the catch can?
