Hi guys,

Just had a new engine fitted to the car and am now plugging in all the wiring. There are a few things i'm not sure where they go. Also the fuel line, not sure which is meant to be plugged into which spot.

I've attached some photo's which i've annotated so you can see what i need a hand with. It's a 650kb download.

I'd appreciate any help from those with the knowledge or who can look it up in their workshop manual!!! I think i should have bought one before starting this quest!!!

Thanks

Andrew

P.S. if this is a duplicate post it's cos the last one buggered up when submitting and wouldn't appear for me...

What do you open a rar file with?? what's the car, what's the motor

shite... sorry, i should have put that info in the first post.

Open a rar file with winrar. I have zipped it too for those that don't have winrar installed.

It's in an R33 Skyline GTST and it's an RB25DET.

Also any tips on setting up cam timing? I've got the cam belt with the white marks on them. I've set the crank to TDC (is that the 1st Red mark on the harmonic balancer) and the cams to their correct marks. Then i put the belt on with the white marks lining up with the notches on each cam gear. I think i have it all correct but would just like confirmation to make sure i don't go bending valves! How do i know if cylinder 1 is TDC and not on the top of the exhaust stroke?

Thanks

Andrew

Pic 1 if that socket is mounted on the crossmember under and behind the oil filter...the red wire goes to side nearest to the side of the engine bay.

Pic 2 & 3 the lead goes to the front post at the front inside corner of the relay box the earth goes to chasis rail directly undernieth , the 2 plugs are clipped onto the lower front of the relay box,

pic 4 The fuel line from the filter goes to the pipe which runs round to the rear of the fuel rail...it should be the top one. bottom pipe comes from the pressure equaliser at the front of the fuel rail

Pic 5 2 wiring sockets are clipped onto this bracket (Grey) 1 6 pin and 1 8 pin, the 8 pin socket is hanging in front of it

ok thanks... so for pic 5 they are just mounting points? i thought they might have been earth points but couldn't see anything to plug into it.

pic 1 goes to the unit just after the uni joint on the steering column. I'll check to see it it's mounted to the crossmember.

pic 2 and 3, i found those points just before reading this post. But i put the earth onto the back of the alternator where another earth of similar size is located. Should i move it to the chassis rail? (don't want any earth loops)

thanks for the tip on the fuel lines :P

Jaws - thanks heaps for the timing guide!

Also do you guys know which part of the wastegate goes to which bit of the boost controller? my little lables fell off!!! I've got a HKS wastegate which has a vacuum pipe on the top and another one on the side. I've got a Greddy ProfecB boost controller.

You are all champions... i love this forum!!! It's full of knowledge and helpful people!!!

    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
    • Lock me in mate, although I'm not sure if I'll be heading up from Goulburn or down from Sydney, either way, return will be back to Goulburn

    • Before I get to the test day, just to finish off the android head unit. This is a demo from car start up....the standard/host system takes a few seconds to boot (same as all v37) but Android comes up quickly. In this vid I'm using the delivered launcher but have set the default to Agami since which is easier to navigate when if use primarily 5 apps. You can see the host system still takes over when required eg putting it in reverse, and you can switch between Android and not by holding the back button 3 sec. It is pretty responsive (fast) but you can see I had to press harder than expected a couple of times.  I still have the phone connected to the stock system, and that also seamlessly takes over Android music playing. v37-android-demo.mp4 The bigger reason that I put this in though is so that I can use Ecutek directly on the head unit. That gives me a dash with logging (up to 20MB only), high and low value warnings on any parameter etc etc. I've run a USB cable from the Ecutek OBD dongle to a USB input on the unit, easy. v37-ecutek-demo.mp4   The unit did freeze on the launcher the other day, I think Agami was trying to verify the license when it didn't have a data connection...will monitor and report back if there are any other problems but so far I'm very happy with the upgrade.
    • Nah that is just crappy GPS mapping, I did have a small excursion (cold tyres, damp track, surprise!), will post up that when I get a chance.
