Ok so I was wondering if a fudged coilpack would cause a car to fluctacte at idle (1200 to 2000rpm) I cnt find any vac leaks and I jst went to go down the road and my car started hesitating and almost died at stand still, Managed to limp the car back home, I've had it on diagnostics and it comes back afm, I changed afm and still did the same thing, I've got new plugs in gapped at .8mm, cnt find any vac leaks, tps is fine, I've had 2 mechanics look at it quickly but have no idea.. I'm going to take it to 999 automotive tomorrow, but after I jst took it for a drive I was thinking maybe the coilpacks r the problem, the car is upto 137xxxkms, 3" exhaust turbo back, nd running 12psi, r34 gtt sedan..

As many as it takes to fix my car... Gotta learn somehow and As I've never had this problem

B4 I'm trying to find out as much as I can so I know what to do in future, as I've tried everything else, and as no1 has said anything about coilpacks I wanted to put it in the title to attract other people that have had coilpack issues to share with me there problems as I dnt know the symptoms and I dnt know how often ur suppose to change them as there is mixed info on them? This is a forum after all for getting information?

Check engine light is on, traction control is stuck on as wel as I snapped a nipple pulling a vac hose off on the traction control sensor but is getting replaced tomorrow, this all happened b4 that but, I did do a diagnostics and it came back afm

So I

Replaced it, didn't fix it and I was told that Rbs are common to throw afm codes in when something is wrong... I'm going to let aechanic sort it out so if some1 else knows a gd mechanic near sunnybank I will take it there otherwise 999 is my option for now

Should of wrote that more clear, but I snapped the nipple looking for vac leaks after the problem

Accured but that def is not the

Problem, unsure if the engine light came up after I snapped the nipple or because the car is now starting to hesitate

I'm not that stupid mate.... Like I said I jst need a good mechanic, I've tried everything that I have Bn told to do off this site, quite over it now cos it's my daily driver...

I don't think jez was implying that you were as dumb as a door knob.

More the fact, did it come off a car where it was working fine?

    • I can get more photos of it here soon and I plan to make a thread detailing the process. I received the car this way and it sorely needs refinishing. That is probably the most appealing photo of it. Up close it is fading, cracked, and needs to be re-glued. Depending on their condition I'm on the fence between refinishing or making a new set.  Another angle hiding the pimples and razor pumps
    • According to this thread the RS4V with build plate RC40 comes with the R200 diff @ 4.083 ratio as well (mine has said RC40 denotation). We may need to check if the axle stubs are the same pattern as well. The auto subframes have longer axles. However I think yours being a later Series 2 as well, we should have the same bolt pattern for the diff stubs. Unless your upgraded rear also has upgraded axles. Either way, I would not be opposed to pulling the covers to check so I can inspect that  fancy rear core  Also I don't have HICAS. I don't believe that should change things but I hope the people here with heaps more experience than me can correct me if I'm wrong   Let me know if you want to attempt to make this work and I can get some pictures of mine from under the car.
    • It's not that straightforward. For example I have had this code because my ignitor/power transistor wires were unplugged. It knows something is wrong but has no idea what it means. If you want to actually diagnose this I recommend following the service manual flowchart for code 21. Ohm out the harness, coilpacks, inspect the ECU, etc. And again, it's entirely possible for there to be no problem at all but if you're running a different coilpack it'll trigger the code because it doesn't like what it sees.
    • If it (the code) wasn't still current, it should have gone away by itself by now. No, nothing it 10/10. But it is quite likely. Everything else to do with the ignition could still be responsible (which is wires and connectors). The car is an old piece of shit now, so all the wires and connectors are also old pieces of shit.
