Hey guys, I have a strange problem going on intermittently.

Sometimes if I shift from 1st to 2nd under hard load it seems like the clutch slips and the revs build up fast.

However i tried doing some 5th gear pulls up a steep hill and a little clutch kick, No slip! Just grips and pulls.

Its pissing me off! I thought it could be my diff single spinning, but I'm not convinced anymore as it also does it in a straight line too.

Car is a R34 GTT. Basically stock, stock clutch.

If it is clutch, Looking at buying this clutch bellow (cheap), Can anyone identify it?

Reason, R34 pull type clutches are expensive. Lol. This i think is a brass button?

Thanks for your help guys.

How many kms on the clutch etc? Its most likely going to be a clutch issue unless you seriously cant tell if its wheel spinning?

Mine failed fairly early on with only 199rwkw or something....

Dont skimp on a clutch, Dont buy a second hand clutch or one in unknown condition.

There is a clutch thread for R34's with some good advice, i'd be looking into that!

Thanks mate, Yea the car has 97000 on the clock.

I will hunt down this clutch thread you speak of =) thanks.

I know the wheel spin thing sound silly, but from 1st to 2nd you would expect wheel spin anyway so it makes it hard for me to figure it out. Which was why i tried the 5th gear pull, I thought it would slip up a hill under that much load. Maybe not?

Just did my clutch and found nismo lightweight flywheel in perfect nick and coppermix setup a nice suprise after buying a new alloy flywheel and clutch lol wasnt dead if anyone wants it cheap

Mate send madaz a pm he got mine cheaper and service was fantastic for gtt

do the gearbox gaskets front and rear tranny and spigot , rear main seal at the same time , preventive

Did the nismo braided line too little bugger to bleed lol

Mine only has 88,000 easy k's and the seals were drying a fair bit

    • I can see between the water jacket and cyl 3 there wasn't a hard line of combustion gas. It certainly appears that the issue is coming from there. Yes, checked the tension. All at 100ft lbs where I set them 5 years ago. These blocks can crack but generally when they have been over bored. Mine is only 0.5mm oversize at 89.5mm. They break between cylinders around the 91mm mark. No sign of that with mine. My gut feeling is the head gasket lifted a while back when the studs stretched and i bandaided it by retorquing the studs. It's finally let go.
    • My Nismo 1.5 churps a bit on reverse turns when cold, but besides that feels like a stock diff.
    • Yes, but, I paid cash and I'm pretty sure the receipt was in the bin 10 minutes after I got home Note to self, keep all receipts
    • Bunnings would have just handed you your money back on that one!
    • So, version 4 intake is on its way I was looking at these a while ago but at around $200 or more it was a little pricey for something that might not work, but, I had it in my watch list, but, I got a message saying it was on special, and I had a code thingie to use, it eventually came in at $120 delivered, so BAM, BUY NOW.....LOL I'll need to have a look when it arrives but I feel it will "look" better than what I currently have, as it comes with a PCV fitting, so I will be able to get rid of the alloy pipe that goes to the throttle body with the PCV fitting  Well, that's what the voices in my head are telling me  Oh, and this happened today Yeap, it was a Trojan, and it was cheap, so I headed back to the hardware store and actually spent a little bit more on a heavy duty,  one that was actually recommended by a plumber mate, a Cyclone one with a fibreglass handle that is actually rated for clay The broken shovel will eventually be "modified" into a short handle shovel
