Daleo, what an absolute nightmare you and your wife went through! I hope your poor wife didn't suffer any permanent injuries caused by the wreck. Good on you for fighting back and taking assertive actions.

Thanks to everyone for the advise on what to do with my insurance company. I did read over the policy regulations, and it does state "in some circumstances we will waive the excess fee, if the persons responsible are identified" I called the insurance on Friday to quote this, and again explained the situation. I was told in the event of an accident with another car, (not my fault) the excess waiver would be applied. But not for my vandalism case. It's a battle I won't win. And a headache I don't want.

On a bright note, Saturday I took my car to Mario from the ding king, he removed all 3 dents caused by the rocks, and was able to buff out the scratches, all for $100. All I'm left with is the area of chipped paint to get to get touched up. But it already looks 100 times better!

Not true. My V35 was keyed all over couple of months ago and needed a full respray. I was able to identity the culprit and Just Car reimbursed all my excess after the car was fixed.

Do you have the address and contact number of the kids' parents? If you have you should supply them to the insurance company.

Get the details from the police and give them to the insurance company. You should also give them the police report number.

It doesn't matter whether it's an accident or vandalism, as long as you can identity the at fault party, you should not need to pay excess and your rating should not be affected.

Holly, she's all good, and we've got a good story (now that it's over).

Their attitude was what pissed me off so much; that's why I went after them.

Glad to hear you have your car sorted; sometimes it's better to chalk one up to experience, and it sounds like you've gotten a great deal on your repairs.

No point letting it drag on forever, when you have to look at your damaged pride & joy every day.

Next time; run the little f**kers down. :whistling:

  • 3 weeks later...

I dont think you would need the code as they would figure it out on the computer (If you are planning DIY, thats a different story)

Ohhhh make sure they paint the whole sections. If they just paint a a small area around the damage and polish the rest of the section (which happened to me) it would be visible.

I think the damage is on the passenger side door. So I would get the whole thing painted.

Good luck

    • They are under bucket shims. Tomei provides a test shim kit and then any measurement of shim required.
    • I always wondered how you were supposed to buy a set of 24 buckets and somehow magically have every single one of them yield exactly the desired clearance. I would have thought you'd need to assemble a cam with either 12 "sample" or "example" buckets of known top thickness (or a single such sample/example 12 times over!!) measure clearances at every valve, and then do the usual math to work out what the actual "shimness" of each bucket needed to be, before buying the required buckets to make up he thicknesses that you didn't have on hand.
    • I now seem to be limited in power due to my rev limit/hydraulic lifters in my built RB25. I'm looking into converting over to Tomei solid lifters. Question for anyone that has done the conversion. I was always under the impression that when using the Tomei solid lifter conversion, you would also require new valves (Longer or shorter stems, I can't remember which).  I don't know where I got this idea, as so far I see no mention of this in any of the Tomei documentation. It just states I need the Tomei solid buckets, solid lifter cams and upgraded springs. As my head is already built, all I would need is another set of 1000$ Kelford cams, 500$ buckets and about 4H hours of my time installing and I'm off to the races!?!? There's no way it's that simple, I must be missing something?
