Ok guys,

Would like the guru's to come out and tell me the impact of running a different rim width on a GTR.

Specifically I have a set of Panasports in the following trim and haven't had any issues. I bought my GTR with these rims in late 2003 and they were on my car until 2011.

Front - 17 x 9.5 +15

Rear - 17 x 10 +20

Tyres are 255/40/R17

I've heard not to run different rim widths on the GTR due to the attessa system ?

Why then does this work without issues ? Same tyre size I'm thinking.

Look forward to your comments.

Richard

What do you mean works without issues?

I know for a fact my front drive gauge jumps all over the place with a different wheel on. Especially a spare tyre (fitted to the rear).

Not experienced this Owgasam. Gauge works fine, car drives the same and no Attessa light on (yes it works).

Wasn't until yesterday after measuring the rims I picked up the rim width difference. Fronts measured 25cm and rears 26cm. Close enough to 9.5 and 10.

I'll measure again today.

Rolling diameter is the same. 255/40/R17

And like you Terry Ive heard the same and my other sets are the same.

Tyres are the same. But once you put them on a different size wheel.

Your rolling diameter will be out due to the stretching or bulging of tyre on different size rims.

There is a % of acceptance in difference, someone who remembers will come in soon. But most people just run the same all round.

Same all round is obviously the easiest/best. Thanks Simon

I hope we hear % acceptable difference. I'm attempting to sell these rims in the FS section.

Better also do another more precise measure with a straight line today.

Don't fart about with manufacturer's rolling diameter tyre info, get the tape out and measure the circumference of every tyre.

Match them up side for side and put your largest circumference pair on the rear.

ATTESA can allow for some tyre wear.

As it's a 32 your transfer clutch pack isn't preloaded like later models.

    • Yea - I mean I've seen my fuel pump which is decades old and uh, while I'm not saying this with real knowledge... but I sure get the ick at using anything in the fuel system that produced the state of that pump. Many years ago I went through multiple pumps (and strainers) before I dropped the tank to clean it out with extreme violence. I'm talking the car would do maybe 50km before coming to a halt, which resulted in me cleaning out the filter with some brake cleaner and going on my way. None of my stuff ever looked like what came out of your fuel tank. I don't think I'd be happy with it unless every single component was replaced (or at least checked/cleaned/confirmed to be clean here).
    • I'm not going to recommend an EBC pad. I don't like them. Just about anything else would suit me better. I've been using Intima pads for a while now.
    • Agreed, and in particular the earth strap that should go from the subframe to the chassis but it often broken or left off. There is a section in the R32 workshop manual you can follow for troubleshooting if you don't see anything suspicious, and depending where you are (there is no location on your user profile) you should be able to get your hands on a second hand replacement unit still if needed
    • Yeah they mention as a R34 for 2.5 Turbo...but then again thos "small" were also for R34 by that different site. But i look into it and that 310mm EBC is for R34 GTT. And by those you linked the specs are the same 🙂    EDIT: I found these on one site here: DBA 4000 series T3 DBA42304S They are 310mm...and it says are for R34GTT...are there good? EDIT2: ok they have pads too.  What "color" should i get for street use? I dont want/need some noisy ones...(and if they are not that dusty that is good too)
