Shiva, i'll try and put this into perspective for you.

To change the colour of your car completely, you need to paint inside the doors/boot/engine bay etc. That means they will need to take out the engine and interior. Thats a lot of labour, and the whole job could cost between 5k - 10k. They might also f**k your interior in the process and not put shit back together properly. In my opinion its not worth it. Your better off selling your car and buying the colour you like.

Your other option would be stick as close as possible to black. ie just change to black pearl over the top and a new coat of clear to freshen your paint up. It will look brand new when its done, the only thing is the pearl wont be in the engine bay or inside the doors.. Nobody would even notice that. You could probably get this done for around 2k for a good job. (FYI you could probably get it done for less but it will show...)

Also from your questions, it sounds like you dont have any painting experience so i dont reconmend doing it yourself.

naah...i am not doing it myself...i dont wanna spend 5k on this...i did check some picture of matte black wrap...but it doesnt look that great on a V35.....shud i just go detailing on the interior and exterior to get away with swirls and minor scratches and few stone chips....it would cost me $700 to $800 for a good job of that....

If you want a really good detailing job check out http://arkbarrier.com.au/ they basically polish the crap out of your car then coat it in the thin layer of glass. Looks mint, plus water just runs off it.

I would also question a $2k figure for just an 'exterior surface' respray, especially if you want a pearl finish.

If done properly there is a lot of work involved.. removal of door trims, door handles, removal of windscreen/window rubber seals. headlights, bumpers, rear badges, tail lights, door bump strips, etc, etc..

I would estimate closer to $4k.. $2k for the paint and another $2k for labour.

If you just wanted a standard 2 layer paint (not pearl), you might be able to cut the paint cost a fair bit.

If you existing paint is flawless (no stone chips, deep scratches, etc), you might even get the labour a little cheaper.

unless you happen to know someone in the business and can do a 'cash in hand' deal..

Ark Barrier does not crack, bubble, flake, peel, delaminate, come off or discolour, as long as the temperature remains below 700 degrees℃.

If your car was exposed to 700+ deg C, you have other things to worry about.

which i do thus my price..

My V35 recently had a full respray, no colour change, just respray original colour. Costs 6k+.

If your talking about a surface spray only, i.e. no sanding back to metal and priming before applying new coat of paint, then 2-3k is probably what it would cost. If you want a proper full respray, you will be looking at north of 5k.

Envy me, i am family friends with the painter out the back of my work and i get everything done FREE unless he does "a big job" i'd give him cash or a few cartons. Just got my Front bar, Boot lid full resprayed and stone chips touched up last week completely free.

Will he do it for fellow skyline owners?? :)

My front passenger side door was resprayed by a previous owner (no idea why), and the colour doesn't quite match.. irritates me every time I see it..

I can talk to him, it depends how much work you want done. My mate wanted heaps of shit done and he just told him to go to a paint shop. He's a bloke you really need to get to know for him to do free stuff for you but if it's only a small job he might be happy with a bit of cash. He does A+ work i've very very happy with what he did for me.

No probs.. not sure when I would be down your way next anyway.

Don't know if the best way would be to match the colour of the rest of the car and respray the door, or match the colour of this door, and blend the colour on the adjoining panels..

matte black wrap quote = $5,200 + GST....thats a rip off.....have to rethink as to what needs to be done

Matte is hard to maintain...you'll be washing your car every weekend so you don't get dirt and grime build up. That's if you really love your car lol.

    • Unsolicited advice? Keep the engine as close to stock as you can. Nothing wrong with adding some boost and making a little more power, but given where you are, you really don't want to try to make it into a monster. I can't imagine the roads are up to it, and the lack of locla support when it grenades will be a ball ache. FWIW, If there is a dyno around that you can access, then brand new injectors are a good idea, which will lead you to (at least) putting a Nistune in it, which will allow you to put an R35 AFM on it, all of which will make it possible to make it much much nicer to drive and live with.
    • List all of your mods. It sounds like an aftermarket ECU hitting rev limiter. Like a valet mode, or a cold rpm limiter?
    • @Kapr Haha yeah thats the one. I missed that you had a built up engine, I wouldn't want to run it on there either then. It was good in my situation just to replace the original turbo on a stock engine. @MBS206Yep definitely not a replacement for anything name brand
    • You are selling this? I have never bought something from marketplace...i dont know if i trust that enough. And the price is little bit "too" good...
