Hey all,

Took a ride in my mate's R33 GTST and basically made my mind up on the spot to buy an r34GTT. Always liked that car, but never thought about really buying one. Just got a job so will be in the market for one in the next few months, hence why I've joined here.

Been reading for a little while, feel like an ant.

Anyway, I'll be looking for a BLACK R34 GTT stock as possible (or cleanly modified) some time in the next 4 months, so just preparing myself with some knowledge. If anyone remembers this post in 4 months' time, feel free to remember me and let me know that you know of a car which suits my criteria. Till then, see you round.

Do your research on prices and how many K's/mods etc that they have...... Read the thread on what to look for in a car (Dont know which section it was under, try a seach and you should be able to find it)....

The 34GTT is an awesome car so its a good choice, fingers crossed you find the car you want when the time is right!

Thanks mate, already read that "what to look for when buying a skyline" thread, though that checklist is mega long but will bring my friend (R33) and his friend (WRX) to have a look.

Funny thing is, most of my friends are mad about cars but i've never really cared - just a mode of transport for me.

Friends have: mx5, prelude, r33, s15, chaser. pretty good collection aye? hahahaha

Well just do your best to read and search before starting an array of threads (been a few new guys that have caused a bit of a stir by asking basic things, but youve already searched and read up on things so sounds like your all over the forum thing) ;)

Well research as much as you can, the long checklist is there to help you. Also, if its a private seller then get a bit of info on how long they owned it and how they drive etc..... I purchased mine off another SAU user and he was not only genuine and easy to deal with, but was also a member that searched and did everything the right way in terms of the car! I looked at 10 or so before i got mine! So dont rush :)

Ahh, its friday arvo and i am just dribbling... Ill get out of here but good luck!! :)

34's are good driving cars no doubt.... just don't park it next to a 32 or 33

sure is not as big a plumper as the gtr but it wins hands down in ugly, they haven't aged well, in another 5-10yrs the older cars will be far more collectable imo

I like the 34s over boats....

welcome!

hope you find all you need and more here.

I'm sure you will

as already stated, don't rush into it.

I bought the first gtr I looked at.

was CHEAP at the time, but kind of wish I had held out till I had more cash.

theres a lot of modded cars out there, and a bargin can be had, just keep an eye out, and pounce when the time is right.

can't wait to see what you get.

post pics

hehehe always gets me... barge arsed 32 boners calling 33s boats ^^ have a look for yourself, it's the smallest looking of the 4 models.

32s are now barges, 34s are dredges and GTRs are supertankers

@34GeeTeeTee yeah not new to forums themselves, so definitely more aware than the next noob or two in what to say and what not to say. Looking forward to learning more from this forum and you guys.

@madbung thanks for that pic, you just helped me confirm that the R34 is the sexiest beast out of all. personal preference of course, so i'd be glad to park it next to a 32 or 33. and i'll make sure there is JUST enough space to get into the 33/32 =D. I'm a massive fan of the square-ness of the 34. Hoping to get a GTT then move onto a 34GTR in a few more years. Don't know where i'll find that extra money but hey, i don't have a GTT now (nor the money) so who says I can't do it?

@luke GTR yeah thanks mate, my friend has given me the same warning, take it slow and have a good look at a RANGE of 34s before i decide on which to buy - that way i'll know the good and the bad ones. having said that........embarrassing to say but i need to learn manual first HAHAH only had a few lessons with my friends, getting the hang of it but I don't think it's very good for my street cred if i can barely get the car moving if i'm test driving it eh?

@tai1or made cheers. don't quite get which is the sophisticated land yacht but.....ok. is it the 35? too round...too round.

R33's are heavier, longer & sit higher stock in comparison to the r32 (I like R33's over 32's by the way)

The r34 is slightly smaller & not as wide as the r33 but the difference is minimal

it's the colour of the r33 in that pic that makes it appear smaller by comparison imo, plus they aren't all factory stock examples in that photo except *maybe* the r34 & r35 so rims coilovers & tyres sizes are all unknown variables

34 too square too square

Any person with a 34 is known as paul walker

/thread

Your just Jelly..... Everyone loves box!!

The 34GTT isn't that square and that's the car he wants.... If you put a big ass body kit on it I agree, but of you look at my at it's not really that square..

    • Im not entirely sure exactly what or where its leaking from, he started to pull the boots to swap to my new tie rods + ends and it just vomited fluid, so he closed em up up, swapped the rod ends to the old rods and let me know so I can figure a solution out, im guessing its all origional as as I passed 103k miles earlier this year im sure its just in need of a full overhual/rebuild anyways.    If i could just yank it off and be good it wouldn't be an issue to ship it out and wait for the turnaround but the guy I work with doesnt really have space to keep my car for a week or two at a time, would rather drop it off and have a replacement ready to drop in
    • What do you mean by "seals"? Internal hydraulic seals (ie, is it leaking PS fluid?) or the rack boots that close the rack onto the tie-rods? Because the former is a rebuild, and the latter is trivial that you or any nearby mechanic could do. Dunno about the cowl. Just buy what you think is required and get anything else you find/break afterwards. Wing? Dunno. Don't like R33s enough to pay attention to them. Mirror glass is just glass (on the surface that you want to polish). Go for it.
    • Hello! Long time lurker, been using the forums to address concerns and questions from afar for a while but I've struggled to find some answers so I guess its about time I made an account and formally asked some more knowledgeable people, since finding local skyline owners is hard (and shops that are knowledgeable or trustworthy to work on 'rare' cars are non existent out where im at, as skylines are quite uncommon to find in the wild around here). So the main 3 questions I have, 1: Steering rack has blown seals, well.. they kind of hold but they are not sealed properly anymore and as my R33 is my DD, i cant exactly rip the rack out and send it off or attempt to fix myself. As most refurb ones are around $1,100 or more shipped, and I have other things I need to work on around the car, I was seeking clarification on whether an S15 rack will more or less bolt right in, and whether a common mechanic could do any other required work to get it to fit. I ask, as I've found a supplier than can sell a manufactured as oem one for around 400, if not I'll likely order a used one from Jacks JDM, and take a risk on the seals there. The second question i have is that im replacing the front wiper cowl and have planned to buy 4 new clips and a new center clip but wasnt sure if there were any other clips that would also need to get replaced while I was at it. Given im sure any that are there now will simply break when I remove the old cowl... Last thing would be a fairly straight forward question, i think. If I manage (strong if, finding one has proven to be a pain) to find a R33 GTR spoiler/wing will it require much modification to bolt to a S2 R33 GTST? I've read the bolt patterns dont match but otherwise would bolt in, only options I have found with much luck is China stuff on ebay and carbonetics, which has a nice $650 shipping fee... so if anyone has any pointers where a US chap could locate one that would be great Random side question as well, the mirrors as I understand are mirror glass, and as im planning to polish my windows from water spots and surface scratches, i was hopeful cerium oxide would be fine for them too, as my research points to, but clarification is always nice. Any pointers would be appreciated, and while I have scoured the internet for answers if I missed a prior post somewhere that may answer these directly please point me towards it, as i must have simply missed it. I have seen a post here or there that has mentioned it, but I usually get 50-50 answers, or half answers... I dont have a lot of fab experience or mechanic experience, outside of hydraulic and pneumatic stuff I did in the military and with how hard it is to source stuff in the US, id rather not wing it and hemmoraghe money lol. Thanks guys! Sorry for the monumental first post haha
    • Yep, there's a very minor drift left that happens a few seconds after letting go of the steering wheel, but not enough to bother me. Enjoying the car still!
