So I'm looking for a new headunit to replace my VZ400A, which I have a love/hate relationship with.

The car currently has a TV tuner wired to the headunit, which then sends out the video signal to the stock screen and the headrest monitors. I'm also hoping to hook a HKS CAMP2 up to the head unit, and if possible would like something that is able to output CAMP2 to one screen, and DVD/TV to another. Haven't worked out the best way to connect yet.

Looking to replace the headunit with something that has CD/DVD/GPS Nav/iPhone integration/bluetooth/etc, but reviews are a little thin on the ground. I'm wondering who else has fitted something like this.

What I've looked at so far is:

Pioneer AVIC-F40BT: http://www.pioneer.c...40BT/index.html

Alpine INA-W910RC: http://alpine.com.au...php?item_id=277

Kenwood DNX7310BTNAV: http://au.kenwood.co...ms/DNX7310BTNAV

Blaupunkt New York 800: =1562&no_cache=1&L=1"]http://www.blaupunkt.de/index.php?id=959&tx_ddfproducts2_pi1[view]=1562&no_cache=1&L=1

Eclipse AVN827GA: http://www.eclipse-w...tion/avn/827ga/

To me, they look like 5 versions of the same thing (except the Blau, which has buttons and a slightly smaller screen). Has anyone played with any of these, installed them, had them in their car or has any opinions?

Before you ask, I'll be doing speakers/amp at the same or similar time, so speaker output isn't important.

avic f40 = quickish nav ok.

alpine = over hyped navi mediocre

kenwood. win ce6 based feature ok. navi is garmin based.

blau = not bad check that the unit has been updated. these had issues with BT on IP4. navi is good.

eclipse - go play with a base toyota with navi - same unit. installed several. reasonably quick. decent unit.

Cheers guys.

Chris, do you stock any of those, and/or ship interstate?

Sounds like it's the Pioneer, Blau or Eclipse. Prefer the bigger screens of the Pioneer and Eclipse, and looks like the F40 is cheaper.

The Asuka TV tuner I have in my Stagea plays to all 3 screens like your tuner and it also plays the reverse picture only to the front screen when triggered. So you could put the HKS camp into AV1 and when 12v is supplied to the reverse signal then what ever is played through AV1 will only show on the front screen and the dvd / tv will be on your rear screens.

    • Welcome. Dont let anyone dissuade you from your dreams. If you want a gtr, keep sabing and you will eventually get one. I feel like if I had have bought stocks, those companies would have gone bust and I would have lost my money.  There's a gamble in everything we buy. I've had good times and bad. But... I've also met my absolute best friend through this network and can't imagine life without them(more like a brother). Keep in mind, some specific mods will change as technology gets better. If you feel like general chat, there's always the wasteland.....
    • Those are some very cutesy barriers! Is that common?
    • Saw this abandoned Honda Fit in a carpark that was getting repaved... they just 'cut around it' and continued with the job! There's a number of reasons why the car could have been abandoned, but as for the construction company, legally they don't have permission to move the car from the owner (who has moved on and can't be contacted) so all they can do it just leave it there with enough space around it so it won't get damaged.
    • You’ll want to have the block drilled and tapped to suit 1/2in head studs and the head for the same. How much power do you intend to make?
    • Sorry for resurrecting an oldish thread Not much has happened in the past year since the last update. The car did another 1000 miles or so and failed the MOT for the first time in October (failed on tyres which had been advised for a couple of years) In October the car got put up for sale and was removed in November due to no interest, being so close to christmas it was to be expected. The roads were dry in February so I decided to tax it early and get the new tyres fitted.   Fast forward to April, I got someone in to give the car a good clean after sitting for the winter.                                 The car got re-advertised and today (Saturday 3rd May) the car sold. The new owner is planning a GTR conversion at some point and a respray in the same pearl white. It's bitter sweet, it's a shame to have the car sit there for half the year and then only do 1000 miles. The kids are growing too quick and space in the back is getting limited. It's been a great 6.5 years of ownership
