WOOHHOOOOOOOO The HAC grass motorkhana is on like Donkey Kong! (and i can't wait!!)

These grass motorkhana are brilliant, so much fun and very easy on your car.... but your memory will suffer. :P

So this time it's out in Lardner Park in Warragul. About a hour east of the Melbourne CBD.

Google map search "Lardner park" to see how far it's from you. A meet up and cruise out could be easily sorted.

Ok, here's the details that i got emailed about the HAC motorkhana. The supp regs are now online and ready for download.

Here,

http://docs.google.com/open?id=0B2SO7hObq2y-Qm9XYWd1ZDNOZVU.

So from a brief read, you'll need the following.

$25 to enter the event

A CAMS 2NS (non speed) license, = $57. License details here - CAMS 2NS License

Helmet to AS standards.

And SAU Membership ;)

Now I am as keen as mustard for this event!!! My entry is already filled in and will be sent off by the end of this week. I've never actually been to this place of motorkhana fun, but a google map lookup reveals nothing but grass. Maybe mudflaps would be needed, but i can't imagine any, if not no damage to your car. LSD rear ends really could tear some shit up!!!!

So who's in??

I'm quite happy to help anyone for any details, so PM me or ask away.

I'm entering the EVO in AWD class, but RWD is looking good for Skylines. At a best guess RWD Skylines would be up against Commondoors and ChookTins (Falcans), and we all know how shit they are.

And a pic from the last HAC motorkhana @ Moorabbin that I attended... (in a $1200, single spinner Falcon)

And yes last time i got beat overall by a $400 Pugeot :verymad:

Over winter there's one or two a month, but on grass the weather often cause them to be cancelled.

There's another one on grass on the 25th of November in Pakanham. I'm also attending that one. For $15 entry, it's a fun cheap day out.

I can post up the 25th of November one's details if anyone wants them. :)

Ok the event is done and dusted, and i tried to do SAU proud!

Out of 47 cars i placed 37th. With a custom built motorkhana car, powered by Honda, winning outright, and 2nd was a bog stock Mazda 121 bubble car!

I came 3rd in in class. But the AWD's really got their arse handed to them by the FWD division. And yeah there were a few RWD commondoors, and they did'nt run to well.

The course was very tight, and the grass was freshly cut and EXTREMLY slippery.

Oh and i did win 4points for SAU!!! (yeah the Peugoet club got 32 points for the day, but they were all FWD, and had no big power slides!!! IMO i won on 'Style points' )

Quick pic. Vids are to come

Oh one vid....

Shit, just realised it's on tomorrow and I haven't put in CAMS licence application in... That'll teach me for being lazy!

Have fun guys, I shall keep an eye out for future events.

Yesterday was awesome! Longinus (Oscar) and I went along. The Surface was medium length grass with the odd cow pat :whistling: (which are very slippery!) Everyone there was super friendly and it was a very relaxed event.

Had an absolute blast...this course was'nt as tight and the EVO got to stretch her legs and I went alot better. I'm still waiting on results.

Here's the Vids.....

It was so much fun going out there and attempting the slalom courses and testing the car's ability on cornering was a blast - especially when AGE gave me a session on how to do the handbrake turns, that was really fun! haha

My photos are here

Have slow internet, but videos will go up slowly.

Will definitely jump on the next one of these events! :D

Thanks to Adrian for a great day out

Super awesome vid there Oscar!! Thank mate.

I've got more photos and vids, and as soon as the laptop arrives I'll get em up.

I got the results .... We left after 4 tracks out of 10 , so we are in the tail end, but next time hopefully we can bring home more points for SAU!!!!!

I think the next one is in Feb, and I'll post it up as soon as I know.

In the meantime, buy some mudflaps and practice those handbrake turns ;)

    • Nah, nothing formal, just open track days. Mostly small and tight circuits but I would like to get back out to Eastern Creek at some stage.
    • What type of track driving will you be doing?  Do you have a set of class rules you need to abide by that will limit your rim / tyre width?
    • I've been reading a lot lately about unsprung weight and how beneficial it can be to reduce it for driving on the track, given my semi's only have another day or two in them I am throwing around the idea of some lighter wheels and a square set up. I have 265/35/19's and 245/40(?)/19 Federal 595's at the moment. The wheels and tyres are super heavy. I looked up my wheel weight online and got 14.5kg naked. Not sure if this was 8.5 (front) or 9 (rear) but that's a lot. I have also been reading about the benefits of a square setup. Much better rotation and potentially less understeer.  When I throw these together I'm thinking about a 17x9 or 18x9 square (preferably under 10kgs per wheel) with 245 or 255's. I can get some cheap 17x8.5 BMW M Sport wheels, they weight 10.5 kg's each but at 8.5 wide could probably only get 245's on them? I know they come with 255's from factory but semi's are a bit chunkier. Otherwise it will be aftermarket wheels in a 9" width. Most of the other BMW wheels are heavy unless you pay a squillion dollars for some M wheels.  Although, the E46 M3 Style 67's could be good but I'd have to buy 2 sets to square them up.  My car has a tickle over 400hp and about to put an LSD in also, is 245 a little thin for a square setup? It kinda feels that way to me. Also, is there any tangible benefit to having 18's over 17's? Is the footprint demonstrably bigger? From those of you who went to light(er) wheels after heavy buggers, did you notice it much?
    • Start with the R32 GTR wiring diagram. The ECU is essentially the same, so the pinouts are good. The details around ECCS relays, etc might differ a little bit, but the reality is that you need to get ignition power to kick the ECU so it powers up the ECCS relay which brings the rest of the ECU up. This also gives power to the other circuits that are needed to make the engine run, like the ignition coils, etc. All of this is visible on the R32 diagram and should give you a strong guide, even if it's not quite the same as the R33. As to specifics - I'm pretty sure no-one can help you from afar, as there is no way to know what mistake or omission has been made in connecting stuff up. It always turns out to be "LOL, I shorted something and an entire wire vanished out of the loom", or "We never connected X or Y main connector", or "shit, you mean I need to have that fuse installed?".
    • hello wanted some insight on what my problem could be so i swapped a RB26DETT into my r33 gtst used a R33 GTR engine harness and im using a haltech platinum pro. The car cranks but no start the ecu isn’t getting any power now im trying to find out why i cant seem to find any schematics  or diagram for the engine harness for the r33 gtr anything helps thank you.
